Build thread: 5.3/twin 66mm/megasquirt3
Started working on the car in 1991, built bolt on mustang II front end for it before you could buy them, built a 6-71 blown 350 for it, and hung a 9" in the back. Car sat a few years, sold motor without even starting it, re-built rear suspension with truck arm and coilovers. Mini tub, custom dash, setback firewall, blh blh blh. Got the turbo bug a couple years ago and started working on the car once more. Here is a list of what it has so far:
2004 5.3
arp head bolts
E-85 Fuel
twin 66mm .70a/r exh.
2004 zo6 cam
95lbs bosh injectors
ls2 intake
holley 90mm tb
twin 400lph fuel pumps
all -8 fuel line
custom exhaust manifolds
twin fmic's
Let me know if you see anything I have over looked so far. Going to pull the 5.3 next week and gap the rings and install cam and springs.
Thanks for any input

Looks good to me, I'm building a similar setup except a single 75mm turbo but you should probably go with a little more camshaft if you want to make power in the 6200-6900rpm range. I went with a custom cam that I'm waiting to arrive next this week.

I think I will stay with the stock cam on this one. Building a forged 6.0 for after I figure out the tuning. What ring gap do you guys run for 10 to 14psi of boost. I am running on E85, would .022 to .024 be safe? Going to pull the motor out next week after I get all the brackets fabed up. Rear end is on the floor rite now, got to get it together also. Wow, June 14th is to close!

Don't the top ring see more heat? I would think you would want more gap in the top and not the second. This is my first turbo build, not the same as the big inch high compression stuff I am used to. Maybe someone that has broke some ring lands will chime in.

headers are all 1.5" ss weld ell's. I think I have about $200 in all the bends. Well I am not going to make the rod run on sunday despite all the long hours the last few weeks. I made some good progress and should be firing it up in a couple weeks, hopefully. Here are some progress pics

a couple more pic's for ya! It will sit about 2" lower then in the pic. I went with 600 lb. front springs and I think they are a little to stiff. We will see

You've got some good fab skills. I'll be watching this build. I've got a 66 ChevyII and I envy your front clip you made. The stock front ends have no room and handle like a pos.

The ring gap is going to get a different answers from everyone many people are making big power on stock gap it's all about preventing detonation..if ur wanting to be on safe side go ahead and gap them some...if it were me and I was gonna go thru the work of taking it apart and gaping rings I would probably go a little wider 26-28 top and 28-30 bottom then you will be bending rods before you have a piston failure
