Getting it straight, ensuring welding quality and balance ??
I really dont think it's a DIY task even if it's easy to put a shaft together in terms of parts.

Seconding that, considering how bad ford fucked up on one of the mustang drive shafts from factory, it's something you want done right. It was also cheaper for me to import from DSS (who has made plenty of shafts for S2000s) than risk paying 2x as much for an outfit here to do it for the first time right....
And no I would not DIY it.

I've made my own shafts before ( or cut and altered )...but that was on piece of **** diesel conversions.
I'd never do it on anything that made any power. The welding is the easiest bit....you'll never balance a shaft yourself.
FFS, there are only 2 places in the entire country here that can balance shafts...and even they struggle ! lol

Oh I didnt realize you were overseas. My bad. Yeah I am spoiled, there are two capable driveline shops within walking distance of my house.
When you locate a good one I find it helpful to supply them with beer/soda/cash tips.
Anyways I didn't mean to thread hijack. Great work. I was pleasantly surprised to see someone stick welding and having it come out so clean. Its pretty much a lost art with the proliferation of cheap migs.

Probably been sitting 2 years. No idea how long it was sitting before I got my hands on it. I've also heard some are much harder to turn in one direction, but I've really been levering on this one hard, it doesn't budge at all.

Nearly 5 years between build thread updates... thats perfectly acceptable... right!?
I have been working on this more lately. Progress did stall for awhile due to unexpected expenses and life, but we're back on track!
I've been putting a few videos on YouTube. To summarise:
4L80e was no good. Mismatch of parts. I had to rebuild it.
The engine made some sounds.
Finished rewiring the entire car from scratch.
Turbo was ****, and replacement.
Engine re-sealing and turbo fitment.
Running!
More to come!

Yeah, fair call out. I've been pretty slack updating this thread.
Since my last post:
- Got the car running and moving.
- Fixed the shifter situation.
- Found my 3" exhaust was restrictive and preventing me making over 3psi
- Added a cutout to my exhaust, made 650hp to the wheels on 10psi and a slipping trans.
- Went racing. Trans still slipping in 3rd. Did an 11.2 @ 122mph backing off at about 1000ft.
Videos of all of this on my YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...7RYDjaD3X81yb-
I've also just finished redoing the whole exhaust in 3.5", video coming soon. And, I've bought another 4L80e and I'm going through the process of rebuilding it with all Jake's gear and a D3 transbrake. Progress has been quite slow due to affects of the pandemic. It's taking months to get parts
