Default Fender exit exhaust for street car. Fumes?

My old man brought up a point of saying that me running my down pipe out of the front fender of my fox might be a bad idea for a street car. Anyone have any fumes or issues with their car on the street? I'm planning on running out low in front of the passenger tire.

It's definitely an issue at low speeds with the windows down.

Not any louder than a cammed ls1. Turbo quiet it down a lot. Mine has a deep tone. It 5" down to 4" and pipe made oval shaped coming out.

I did mine down low bumper exit and only at a stop light do I smell anything and that's with the wind blowing just right. Once moving its not an issue at all.

And for noise....well I have two 16in case length bullets on my dp so it's pretty quiet by my standards.

ran downpipes dumping under my feet... Car stunk like fumes going slow and on the highway(must pool up just right). Ran dumps at the diff(also have a trans fan blowing downward under trunk) and it still stunk up the car. Ended up running tailpipes, changed the sound of the car, no smell, no drone, I love it!

Different strokes for different folks. I wouldn't like it much myself. Sometimes sitting with the cutout open and the windows down can get to you if you are sitting in slow moving traffic. At least if the cutout is closed it sails it's way to the people behind me and doesn't bother me anymore

Seems like a mixed crowd, The main reason I want to do the fender exit is that it is just alot easier. Also im concerned that my tail pipes wont be able to support a 408 s480 about 1000 hp. I have 3" tail pipes for the car but dont want to hurt my performance. I planned on running the 5" DP.

Try it out Leave the bumper off and drive it around. If its not bad then make it permanent . I have mine coming out pass side fender and it don't have a muffler. Isn't too loud or no fumes. Only have like 50 miles on it so far though

Electric cutout and then taper it down for your catback. It's not like your needing that free flowing when just cruising around. Closed for cruising, open for party time

Mine aims at the ground and is all behind the fender. 5 inch, no muffler. It is not bad. It makes noise, but it is not obscene and I don't smell much exhaust. Sure was easy though.

Im not to concerned about noise to be honest, i do plan on running a small bullet style muffler though. My first original plan was to have the 5" dp out the fender but for that to be a cutout, and for me to try to hook up the tail pipes but then i was looking at necking it to a 4" and running 4" pipe under the car it would hang a bit low for my liking on a street car. Just seems like a total pain in the ***. But I sure as hell would do it if it meant dealing with fumes like my old notch. It had dumps on it right before the rear and stunk so bad. So im just trying to get a idea and a plan before i start ordering turbo piping.

A lot will depend on camshaft, tune and fuel type. For me pump fuel smells horrible and I would not like my hood exhaust then. I run E85 and like the smell, and the wife does not mind E85 she says it smells like a swimming pool. Most leaded race fuel smells really good too.

Pump gas with a lot of overlap just plain sticks!!!
