Default Turbo not boosting Intermittently

Hi all, as the title says I have a boosting issue. I have a front mount Turbonetics 70mm cermaic ball bearing turbo "ebay kit" on an 01 ss with an ls1, 317 heads, BBK intake and a few other little mods. Occasionally my car will not boost at all, there is no piping blown off or leaks in the intake. I was searching on the web a bit and saw some people saying that maybe the timing is getting retarded for some reason and the turbo can't build boost. If this happens I can let the car sit for a while and hop back in it and it will make boost again. Has anyone had any experience with this issue?

Have you looked at the compressor wheel for any wear and tear? Any scratch marks on the compressor housing around the wheel? Does the compressor wheel have to much shaft play? Does your wastegate get stuck wide open? Just a few thoughts I had, I could be completely wrong though. Good luck.

The turbo is brand new, less than 500 miles, no scratches or shaft play whatsoever. I got under the car with some gloves on and felt in front of my Wastegate tube and nothing was coming out. The BOV seems to be seated properly, I looked at it also while the car was running. The strangest thing is that it only does it some times. I think I may have a knock sensor bad that is causing the timing to be retarded, thus causing the issue. I will pull the codes tomorrow and see what comes up.

Good chance your ebay wg or bov are sticking, even with extreme retarded timing(we've ran zero degrees timing) it still builds boost fine.

Only the manifolds and exhaust tubing are ebay, my BOV and wastegate are TIAL. I'm about to head out and get the codes if they are still there.

The Intake is a BBK SSI aluminum intake, and the BOV is sourced from right behind the throttle body on a vacuum source on the intake. I tried to pull the codes but my reader was messing up. I need to find someone with a data logger in my area
