Default M112 @ 13lbs ?

LETS SUBJECT THIS THREAD: COLD FEET

Should be headed to the Dyno either this weekend or next weekend. I am getting cold feet. I talked to several builders before going with the setup listed below and although all of them have been super helpful some of the info has been conflicting. I am just looking for a little piece of mind before I overload this thing with boost.

I have a real radical setup for a Maggie 112 Car, which is funny because I am looking for a real conservative tune. My goal was 550WHP without meth. I decided to use meth as a safety net. This engine needs to last.... I am looking to get some mileage out of it. Of course I will beat on it from time to time, but I am also interested in driving it, even taking trips with the car from time to time. I guess my long winded questions is... will this be too much boost for longevity?

05 LS2 (C6 Vette), STOCK BOTTOM END (40K miles), Blower Cam, Morel Lifters, double springs, stock rockers w/ trunion upgrade, Lightly ported 243 heads... Running a Innovators Overdrive 8-rib setup w/ a Magnuson 3.0 Pulley and 1:1 rear drive. A&A Fuel system & Alky Control setup

My tuner thinks I will be at 13lbs of boost, and should be fine with that spraying straight meth... I am concerned about heat & boost being too high.

I guess a good place to start is to ask how much boost a 3.0 & Innovators underdrive will produce, and then figure out if its safe.

He is prob pretty close with the 13psi guess but the heat will be insane, my guess is it will make the same power from 9 to 13psi.

50/50 washer fluid. Water will pull more heat than methanol will, and you will still get an octane boost as coverage.

We ran an M112 on a 05 CTSV with a 383 stroker/AFR225 combo, and it struggled to make 560 rwhp. I'm confident it would have made close to 500 N/A...which made the blower the obvious choke point.

I would agree with TJ. Don't bother pushing the blower that hard, its not worth it. Best bet would be to look into a 'real' blower At least a 122, but a TVS would be much more fun

LOL, Well, the car is done for now. I am headed in for my first dyno pull. My only concern is too much boost causing an issue. We will have to see how bad the heat issue is. Hopefully the meth will minimize that. I might just grab a 3.2 to be on the safe size.

You're going to be making as much heat as boost. More isn't better in this case. Figure out what pulley setup yields you 10ish psi. That's about where you find out that more boost doesn't equal more power. All the meth in the world isn't going to cool that baby. You get more octane, but that's about it with meth on an MP112. If you're dead set on much more than 500 at the wheels, you need to find a TVS/bigger blower or consider other blower options.

I don't recall who said it but someone on here once referred to a Maggie 112 at similar boost levels as a flame thrower. LOL just thought that would fit good here.

Default Update:

While trolling LS1tech for MORE POWER I ran across this old thread. This is one that definitely needs an update!

My situation is proof that real world variables will sometimes outweigh mathematical predictions.

I brought the car to the dyno in August and had it tuned. It still needs a little work specifically tuning for the throttle body which likes to surge from time to time. The results were very surprising. As many of you had posted I should be making 13lbs of boost and plently of heat with a 3.1 supercharger pulley and an overdrive crank pulley on the bottom. To prepare for this emmence heat I purchased a methanol injection kit.

To my amazement, the meth isn't even needed (or used really). Car made 9psi of boost and 563HP at the wheels. After 3 pulls (I can't remember the temps) the IAT was LOW and there was ZERO knock at 14* advance.

It "seems" as though I have a little room to play here. I am thinking of dropping to a 2.8 pulley hoping to make around 12-13lbs... turn on the meth and retune. I am wondering if thats going to put me at 600WHP. Food for thought?

I think you are close to maxing that blower out.
