Default 5.3 turbo build. gt45 or on3 76mm?

First let me say I searched first. I also wanted your OPINIONS!!! On my budget build and this is my first turbo build.

68 camaro I think around 3000lbs
05 5.3 motor
ls6 cam and springs
ls6 intake
fast rails
4l60e tran w/trailblazer 2600 stall (I know I my need to replace later)
everything else is stock.

What I'm looking for is a street car, low boost 6-8psi and around 450rwhp?

Questions are which turbo better suits me? gt45 or on3 76mm?
Size of wastegate
Good valued wastegate ($100-$200) Links?
Size of BOV
Good Valued BOV ($75-$200) Links
Do I need a turbo controller?
What size injectors? 42lb?
Anything else I'm missing important?
I will run an inter-cooler. Do I need a meth injection system? ( I think that's what its called)

I have all on3 parts on my nova. Been running it hard for year and half with no probs. I'm running there 76mm turbo, there 44mm gate, and there bov. Don't need a boost controller u can just run off the gate spring that it comes with. Should be about 7lbs give or take. I would go with 60 pound injectors just in case u want to turn up the boost down the road u won't have to buy the parts twice. U won't need meth. I run bout 12 psi on pump gas with no issues

Either turbo will hit that goal easily..I would consider better valve springs they will be fine at 450hp but nobody leaves boost alone everyone wants more..u dont need a meth kit at this level..get a single 255lph fuel pump and 60lb injectors I ordered my bov and wastegate from huron speed for like $200 for both boost controllers are a good to have denmah has the link for the budget manual controller..and Trans will be the first thing to break I think that covers alot

I pretty much agree with everything he said^

A ON3 76mm will be a good choice. You wont be dissapointed.

I'm running the On3 76mm in my 5.7 rear mount setup. Has worked great for me. Also running 60lb injectors. I'd suggest going to the Walbro 400 instead of the 255. I found my setup running out of gas (490 rwhp) with the single 255. Running good now though with the Walbro 400. No issues at idle either.

I would go with the gt45, reliable, cheap, has a bigger turbine.
Someone here had both was was suppose to check if the on3 compressor
housing fit the gt45. Dont think he ever did but would have been sweet if it
interchanges.

Your 450 goal is super attainable with what you're wanting to do, and with either turbo, it will be easy to do on low boost. I think the biggest thing is gonna be your tranny, I see that shittin out on you probably asap, lol. 4l60's are just such a weak link man. Good luck with your build, I've got a 5.3 build goin on right now as well!

If you are looking for a street car and 450 RWHP with a boosted 5.3 I would say either turbo would give you MORE than what you are looking for.

If you don't necissarily want more power than that, and you would rather have 450 RWHP and better driveability, I would reccomend going with a smaller turbo.

This is a general statement, but you could probably get a cheaper turbo, and a smaller turbo (say a 67mm), or a Borg Warner turbo of a smaller size would allow less turbo lag, and make the car more fun to drive, while still easily hitting your goal of 450 RWHP and a good street car. Plus, if you want your setup for this, you will not need the more expensive larger fuel system (smaller injectors, less powerfull fuel pump ect., saving more money). If money is no option, then you may not really care.

FWIW, a 76mm turbo can put down 600-700 RWHP. If you think you may one day want this over 450 RWHP, then it would be good to leave yourself room to grow by spending more on the turbo and the fuel system now. But really if your goal is just driveability and 450 RWHP, you don't NEED to drop that kind of loot and get that large of a turbo setup.

If you want to go super cheap, you can hit 450 RWHP without going boosted at all. I've got nearly that on just a heads cam and intake LS1 in my Formula in my sig.
