Help need a sleeper cam with no lope
So I'm new to forced induction just put a F1c procharger on my ls2 based 402, I would like a sleeper cam with almost a stock idle an I'm running on a tight budget so any help would be great. I'm not looking to get a ton of power from the cam, I can always just turn up the boost.
Parts list
6.0 pp heads stage 3 port
1.8 HS roller rockers
M6 stock gear ratios
3.73s in rear
Patriot gold dual springs with titanium retainers so can't go over 6.50 lift

GT9 working fine for me.
There have been people in and around the 1k mark on the Camaro5 forum with the GT9.
No idea what mine makes, but it is quite nippy. It has a totally smooth idle and great driving and power delivery manners.

Ya trying to stay away from replacing the springs and rockers, the gt9 has a crap load of lift. Looking like the ls9 cam is close to my goals I wounder how much power it would make at 15 lbs of boost.

I make about 22psi with my YSi. Perhaps a beefier cam may produce more, but I have no complaints about it.
I did have the EPP 232/240 in before that, but I just wanted something with a super smooth idle, the GT9 seemed to fit the bill.
That said, Tick has a couple of cams I could be tempted by which should also be very mild low down, but less aggressive on the valvetrain than the GT9

True, my YSi is the loudest part of my motor. I made strives to make the engine quiet, idle smooth and quietish exhaust, and the blower makes a bloody racket ! lol
But the smooth cam did help quieten the blower at idle too. With the chop of the other cam, the gears were far far noisier which cant have been doing the unit any good either.

Ya the blower is crazy loud over 2k rpm but below that its not bad that's why I want the sleeper cam so if a cop pulls up my car won't be idling like its camer more like its power steering is going out lol
An I shouldn't get any valve float with the patriot gold dual springs I have

I'm running the $98 zr1 cam on a 5.3. Just trapped 143 at 17lbs. (turbo) Good cam for the cash. Built for a blower motor as well. You need a font pickup on the timing cover and one tooth cam gear. lingenfelter guys pushed well over 1000hp with their version of it.
zr1/ls9 is 211/230 @.050 valve lift and .558/.552 lift with 1.7 rockers and a 122.5 centerline.
If you have the money, the gt2-3 cam would be better from what I've seen first hand on friends cars. It's a great really mild "sleeper" cam.

Still talking about maybe a 10-15hp difference NA, couldn't justify the added price in my junker. I'll just run the cheapo zr1 cam and turn the boost up.

Patriot Golds are good to .660... That should cover a lot of cams... How much lift does the GT9 have?
My theory on cam/heads is... unless you plan on maxing out your blower/turbo and/or race in a class, why bother running aftermarket...

GT9 has 656 on the exhaust side. Slightly less on the intake, although the intake also has shorter duration so the ramps would be more aggressive to hit that lift in a shorter time.
I was supplied the 660" patriot gold extreme's or whatever they were called at the time.
So far no problems.

You could just go with a used LS6 camshaft. Bob

Back in early 2003 a little shop by the name Agostino Racing sold me a 'sleeper cam' inside my forged 346 turbo build.
after running a 9.92 at 144 with the 6 speed and 17# boost, and thanking them for how awesome the cam was, having thrown me to the very top of the manual transmission ls1 list; i found out it was my original stock 1998 f body cam.
