If this motor is from an '02 Escalade.... how can it have LS2 style rods that weren't released yet?

I wonder if it would be better if we called them "Gen IV, Floating Wrist Pin" style rods instead of "LS2" style rods. It's just easier for people to say "LS2" Style rods.

My understanding is that all LQ9s ('02+) came with "Gen IV, Floating Wrist Pin Style Rods" and LQ4s came with "Gen IV, Floating Wrist Pin Style Rods" after '04 or '05.

I just thought pre '04.5 LQ9s had flat top pistons with more compression with a small bump in power.

I'm not positive in the year of the motor I was told it was a 02. The engine was a warranty engine from dealership and I got it from a buddy. I had the pan off the car but didn't pay attention to the rods or wrist pins. I wish someone that actually knows if my engine has ls2 style rods would speak up so this discussion about the rods will stop.

Becauese "LS2 rods" is a misnomer. The LQ9 introduced for 02 model year did introduce the beefier bottom end. They are "LQ9 rods"

Need to find you a 1.00 housing for that thing...

Our luck thatd bring enough torque in earlier that itd cause reliability problems

Car had a nice sound at idle given the downpipe setup.

You did a great job on it man.

Another way to tell if it has the better rods is the exhaust manifold bolts.
LS2 style motors came with a 13mm bolt. I had a boosted 05 escalade motor in my Camaro. Its much stronger bottom then the LS1s

I found a 1.23 housing.

Chris from Midwest turbo said it will lower my power band by 1000 rpms.

I have trouble building boost on the trans brake with the 1.39 housing

going to see how it acts at the track before I change anything

Any pics or a build thread anywhere? I have an FC that is getting the turbo LSX treatment as well. Awesome numbers!! I'm curious how it'll hook and how you did your 8.8.

Never did a build Thread I should have

The 8.8 is a bolt in granny's speedshop well u have to drill some holes for mounting but pretty much bolt in

It should hook at the track since the power comes in so late

Hell that turbo is so lazy I wouldn't worry about the engine much. Make some power lower in the rpm range and it would start to be a concern.
