Default Help me choose a turbo

Hey Guys Looking to turbo my 02 z28 with 150,000 miles on it. I Recently bought the car with a blown transmission and will be installing a th400. The motor is healthy and bone stock. Looking to make around 600rwhp up at my altitude 6000 ft. Im going to build a front mount setup with truck manifolds 80# injectors and e85. What would be a good turbo to use and still have some room to grow? Ive been looking at the Borg warner s471 I can get a brand new one for $600 but its got a twin scroll t6 foot print and I'm not sure If itll spool very fast? This is just a toy so no worries if it blows up I'll toss a 5.3 in it and play some more.

I like my precision pt7675 and its got some room to grow yet spool quick and make good power on modest boost. On low boost 10psi I ran 10.4@134mph in a full weight street car with no cage on 17" street tires.

S475 would be over kill but I'm ok with that. What kind of converter should I get for the th400 with 3.23 gears? Full weight car.

Check in with Huron Speed for some PT76s or TC76s. They have good deals on them.

A Tc72/68, and the right cam and tune will work great up there. I ran mid 10's with my truck up there with a Tc76/68 and spooled decent for the altitude. Never got to try it but I think a Tc72 will as well or better than the 76 with the little 68mm exh wheel. I ran a Yank PY3400 converter.

Turbonetics 7875 or Precision 7675. Comp also has a more budget option coming out shortly that should perform terrific as well. These will package well without having to relocate and move a bunch of stuff under the hood, meet your goals and give you some room to grow!

If you want big power on budget then go with the S400 on a T4 frame. Easier to fit and still makes gobs of power.

You hit it on the Head! Been looking at the borgwarner turbos when I was playing with dsm's. You really Cant beat the Hp/$ you get out of them. And They are very well built.

Rode in Rays car with the Huron speed kit 7875 and it felt pretty good. The s475 would probably work for me but its Gigantic! I'm looking to make 800who now with room to grow lol Will the turbonetics 7875 get me there?

I think it will get you there depending on other variables of the setup but the billet wheel would be a better option if really pushing the turbo. I think 800 wheel would be the top end of what you would see, however I don't see much better than that from a box s475 either. If you are set on wanting something that will give you room to grow beyond 800 rwhp now, I would look into something different, but the 7575 or 7875 will be great for now and package very nicely for you!
