Default Gears or Convertor ?

So i have a twin 61mm turbo 313ci lsx backed by a Th400 3400 Revmax billet turbo convertor, rear has 3:73 gears 29x9.5 tires and I can blow the tires off and peg the limiter almost instantly (set at 7000 currently) and just keep bouncing off it even at 50 +mph actual speed tire speed alot more... Had the limiter at 7500 and it still does it. Will putting in taller gears help keep it planted or a change in convertor.

Running a comp 287XER cam. Probably alot of the problem it wants to spin and keep spinning. With that said im sure thats alot of the issue.

Currently running 14lbs on E85 with a CSU carb. 23* timing at full boost.

Just wondering cause I see all these videos of guys doing 1000ft burnouts and not hitting the limiter.
Thanks

I know lowering the gearing should help.. Just kinda wondering if its something with the convertor also figured you guys might have some input.

I dont see the problem here. You control it with your right foot. What you need to do is work on getting it hooked up. Any more pics? It looks cool

Thanks..
Ill have to get some video but I can be going 50 down the road hammer it and bounce off a 7500rpm limiter shredding the tires and hit 90mph like nothing it just seems like it should hook a little better but then again maybe it is actually making big power. Should have it on the Dyno soon to find out.

First off, sweet truck!

Id start with some weight in the bed. The rear is very light I'm sure. After that you need a smaller diameter wheel and a tire with more sidewall on it. Then you can change the gear, but I doubt it will help as much as you hope it will.

The converter should be fine.

Neither will change anything significantly. No suspension travel or weight in the rear is 100% the problem.

Truck has a full airride suspension with 12" travel in the rear, fully adjustable panhard bar, pinion angle ect. adjustable nitrogen shocks.. no axle hop what so ever. Rear mount fuel cell but other than that yes no weight over the rear..

Wood bed or steel? I say gears because I have 3.08 with 19inch invos and I hook pretty good just a little wheel spin on 1-2 shift. Plus I can hit 55mph in first and 100 in second has a long pull and a different feel.

Take it to the track and figure out your converter slippage. I'd bet it's a combination of both. I'd go with 3.08 gears as mentioned first.

Are the tires drag radials? You can also drop your timng to about 8* around the flash point of the converter and slowly ramp it back up to control wheel spin.

Heres more pics for the others...

Truck has a wood bed floor.. Took it out for a bit this morning and in 2nd gear driving at 45 I just layed into it and it just hits the limiter in 2 seconds shredding the tires. Im gonna pull the rear apart tomorrow amd change some stuff cause it kinda sucks not being able to use half the power its making..
