Default Moving forward..

Have to work all weekend as usual anyway. Got my drawings done for the intake flanges. Have the material. Might as well start machining.

This is just a pic I forgot to add. It is what you think it is.

The first cut of many. My trusty old Bridgeport V2XT.

Hey bud, last few months I've been really thinking about picking up a used Bridgeport...? I have been watching a lot of YouTube videos of some of the stuff people build with them and now I want one.

Would it be worth it?

Absolutely if you can get one at a good price. Mine is a V2XT, around 1992. It was the flagship at the time. There was one guy in the whole US that could fix the computer boards when they blew up and they charged a grand every time. In 2010 I ripped out everything and replaced all the motion with all new everything. Cost about 3k but it wont break down again and its a much better machine and as it stands is worth about 15k. Hardest part is learning the CAD software. That will take you a couple years to get good at it. You have to be very creative with a 3 axis machine. It really has limitations for 3D stuff and I am forced to make a lot of fixtures. Just another tool in the shop. I would try to get one that has already been upgraded.

Because of that mill I have lots of custom parts that no one else has.

Stuff I have made with it, you can see I do like my purple anodizing (Do that myself also).

Default More progress

I work on it every chance I get. Have not made too many mistakes other than having to remake the flanges completely. Im pleased with how the intake is coming out.
