So you're saying the physical housing size is closer to the size of the PT7675?

Or it's more like the size of the S400-75 that's shown above?

Forgive me for my confusion.

The S400's in T4 flange are all the same size as the pictures above. So its a tad bigger then the 7675.

Have anyone seen drawing of PT7675 and PT8847? I've realized that distance from center of exhaust flange to the shaft plane is important to me because if it's more than 2.50" (on TC78 and T7875), that will position whole turbo even closer to the pulley... But I can't find drawings of PT stuff
This drawing shows what I mean:

IMO I would look into getting the location moved to the exhaust if you can, sounded like thats where you had room. I believe the 76/78 75 turbos need a bigger down pipe anyway, so get the turbo you want, no regrets, no wasted time...

If you are settling on that size the Turbonetics version can be had for less than the standard cast journal bearing pt7675. It comes with the billet wheel and ceramic ball bearing cartridge as well.

Thank you for clarifying that for me. I appreciate it. Might be in touch with you come Winter about purchasing. Sorry for filling your thread with a bit of off topic stuff, OP. *end thread hijack*

What's the benefit of BB?
There are cons however: PT7675 is way more proven; you can't rebuild BB if it fails

Call Dr turbo and get him to build you something that will meet the power goals and size constraints. If you put another small turbo on you will always have the regrets and wished you would have gone bigger. Go big or go home.

DrTurbo already suggested PT8847 earlier in this thread... I guess if he could build compact turbo with the power of 8847 he would say so

Run it and find a way to make it fit.

The std cover BW isn't all that much larger than a Pt88. Maybe 1-1.5" in dia. You can get the 3.5" v band discharge and cut off flange so a 3.5" boot will slip over it.

at 2800lbs my old car ran 128mph all motor with an LS1 and ported heads/LS6 intake, average headers, and T56. With that turbo if you arent'd running 140mph+..... I'd say say keeeeep tuuuuuuning.

Are you looking for distance referring to total length?

Bump! Has anyone come across PT drawings, or maybe can measure distance by himself on PT 8847?

No, I'm looking for this distance I've circled in red.
My exh flange is almost horizontal so this distance is what determines how close to the engine will move the whole turbo, and whether compressor cover will fit.
If it's more than 2.50", turbo will sit closer to the engine.

I was leaning towards PT8847 BUT at $2200 price tag and risk lifting heads on my budget motor with the added power, or breaking my 4L80E, I think PT 7675 or similar T-netics would be much more sensible choice...

What are other good turbos close to PT8847 in size but make more power (and preferably not costing $2200)?
I see a point in modifying piping slightly for some gains BUT for small gains of 8847 over 7675, and price tag of 8847, it's not sensible in my opinion...

Is GT-88 much larger than PT88 too? Somehow they are much cheaper than PT88 I reckon
