LOL the bar is always going higher and higher! I think the moral of the story is that when you push stuff to the edge, it always breaks. Don't expect it to do this or that, only expect it to break. Keep the tune good and you may very well get near 1000 horsepower. Or you could break at 600 LOL there are too many variables to se a hard limit. Very possible to have a weak part from the factory that will break at 400hp. The only things certain in life are taxes and your engine blowing up while trying to find the limit!

That is a perfect way of looking at it. What guys like your are doing now reminds me of back in the day with Grand nationals. I can remember when I got my first one and we were running 20 pounds on it and was thinking that any more and it will come apart. Then it seemed like 3 months later we were running 26 pounds and saying the same thing.
Its the same thing that you guys are doing now.

Well I finally got around to removing the 4.8.

Something is missing in the back cylinder...

Starter carnage

Chunks in galley

Expected a lot worse

Both of the rods in the back cylinders (7&8) snapped. The rod bolts were still in tact. My cam got chewed up, hole in the block, pan was ruined, starter demolished, and my bogart wheel damaged.

It was fun to try but I wont be trying this again anytime soon.

Big thanks to Nitrous Express NX who without question replaced my fuel solenoid!

WOW I never thought a bad starter could do that much damage to a motor.

I say just replace it with a newer 5.3 and let it eat.

Ha ha. Maybe on another project, don't need this happening again, it gets expensive. 408 is going back in.

I hear the newer rods are quite a bit stronger.
