Default BW turbo???

Starting to prepare for either a 5.3 or 6.0 build soon. I'm wanting to go turbo. This isn't a "budget build" but I still wanna get the best deals I can without skimping out where it counts.

I'm wanting to go with Borg turbos. I plan on daily driving/street racing this car. Power goals are set for a reliable 700 to the wheels for now. Also plan on meth/water and keeping on pump gas since e85 is hard to find around here.

Just wondering if some of you guys can post up numbers or info with your experience, opinions, power levels, etc. with these turbos. Also, if you're single or twin and which one you prefer. Thanks

Tons of bw builds right now all like 700+ horse too. I would do single. Lighter weight and cheaper and it will do the job just as twins will. I would vote for a s480 and race cover 96mm turbine

Awesome. I've been contacting Martin@Tick about what kind of set uos I should go with. He recommended BW as the most reliable. I wanna make mid-high range power since it'll be a street/dd car. I was thinking of twins for the quick spool, but I don't have a problem with just going with a nice single. Like you said, cheaper, less weight, more room in the engine bay as well. Haha

I'm making 755/663 on stock longblock ls1 with a Tick cam. Running the cheaper 650 dollar s475 bw with 1.32ar/96mm turbine and I love it. Turbo is about 100rwhp from its max though. Then I'm going to upgrade. Unfortunately the stock high mile little ls1 will explode before then probably. Making 16-18 psi on pump93 and twin 10gph meth nozzles spraying 100%. 14 degrees timing.

Jose says the ticket now is the new 84mm etr.

That's insane. Also, another question. Are all 5.3 blocks aluminum, or are some iron? I read a thread yesterday where someone said they had an iron 5.3?

Most 5.3's were iron.

I was unaware. I thought most were aluminum.

Don't get dad new socks or a grill brush this year.
