Question A supercharger for a 2000 Camaro V6

OK guys, I own a 2000 Camaro 3.8L V6 and yes its an automatic. Anyways, I've been looking into upping the horsepower and so far the only thing I've conlcuded was that I should buy a performance chip. recently I found a supercharger online for my V6 and its pretty cheap compared to the other ones I've seen. the problem is that my car is my daily driver and its not like I'm going to be racing every day, so I was just wondering If I need to do any necessary engine mods since its just going to be a daily driver and not an all around drag car. Any info would be greatly appreciated

Oh boy where to begin. First off how much money do you have to put in the car and what are your goals?

Supercharger is probably the wrong answer. A 50 to 75 shot of nitrous is going to be more for you.

you could buy a used LS powered fbody for less than forced induction will cost. and be just as fast. then boost that one.

By "pretty cheap compared to the other ones you've seen" did you mean this?

Its an ls forum so ill keep it short. I have an m90 on my 3800 in my firebird. You can get total parts for it for 500 but you will need fab skills and a lot of time. If you want to go fast on v6 you can, but if you ask on a ls forum everyones going to say go go ls. Turbo is going to be a 3000 kit or lots of fab, no flipped manifolds work and no ac. Centri sc is good but its still a lot of work. Fast and easy, ls. Fast and unique, v6. Nothing is cheap short of a pre modded ls f bod.

5k is a good amount. I would swap it for a V8.

I've thought about using nitrous, but it just seems to be a little much for a daily driver. That and I've never used nitrous before.

Self your car for around $2,000, then use the $5,000 you would spend on a Blower, and buy an LS Powered car.

find a good running used camaro z28 in the 99-02 range
and swap engine,trans,rear axle,wiring,suspension,everything z28 specific

take all the best parts and put them on the car you have a sentimental attachment to

put all your parts back on the z28 and sell it as a good running v6 car

Ya don't spend 5k on a v6 car. Not only will that not be enough to do it right but it won't be that fast.

If ya wanna go cheap then build a rearmount turbo kit for the car like the STS setups. Get some 60lb injectors and a tune. You might be out 3 grand or less if you have any fab skills. Crack 13's at the track all day....

5 K will get you low 12's to mid 11's easy, if you have fab skills. That lil 3.8 will take a hammering and be no problems as long as the tune is good. My first one went almost 30k going 11's on well over 20#'s, no low boost and getting beaten on every time it was out. The trans will be the weakest link, and then the rear.

Its a waste of money, if the car has sentimental value swap the v6 in that car for an LS. If you keep the 3.8 and dump 5K in it at the end of the day you will still have a motor with not enough pistons that makes a stupid noise.
