Default Noob turbo help

Hey folks, I am currently piecing together stuff for a turbo 5.3 swap into an 86cutlass. I am deadset on going turbo, no real timeframe. My question is with how a turbo system is routing. I am having a hard time finding how to route my turbo/exhaust system. Im unsure of where the blow off valve and wastegate go. I can cut and weld pieces of piping together no problem, just unsure of where everything should go. Does anybody have a diagram or something? Where does the drivers side exhaust pipe run and does it connect to the passengerside?

I have clicked on just about every g body build I have found, and most people don't have the pics im looking for. Mainly how the driverside exhaust comes into play and where the wastegate and bov go.

Check out the video halfway down on this thread:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-in...t-3-0-a-5.html

Shows hotside routing... then read the rest of the thread. Also, any of denmah's builds are riddled with great pictures and videos. VERY Entertaining to say the least. :

Here's some pics of a twin turbo setup:

If you're running a single, just join the 2 exhaust manifolds into one before the turbo.

Parts list:

Another way to join them is wrapped around the back and into the other (by making a "log Manifold"):

Waste gate goes before the turbo to regulate to pressure in order to not exceed your set boost. Blow off goes before the intake in order to release the built up boost when the throttle closes. Or I think...

Blow off valve before the throttle body
wastegate before the turbine on the turbo, usually in the merge, as long as its before the turbine housing.
