Default C5 Custom FMIC and Vertical Radiator Results and Pics

Hey Guys,

I've been lazy getting this thread started, but I figured y'all would be interested in this setup that the guys at JTM Motorsports fabbed up for me. Needless to say, it's much more beautiful and daily driver friendly than the previous setup (procharger dual IC ground clearance w/ lowered cradle=:ack. It also dropped water temps by about 10, although I still need to put my new oil cooler on.

The engine is a forged ls3 block (thanks Aaron @ Texas Speed) with an A&A D1sc bracket and some other goodies. I owe a lot of thanks to Josh @ A&A for going above and beyond- as well as countless other forum members and sponsors whose write ups and experience helped a ton over the course of the build.

Anyways, here are the pics of the custom FMIC & radiator. The real thing of beauty is the chromoly cradle John and Matt @ JTM dreamed up and fabbed up, which gives me ground clearance I never knew was possible even when stock. It even retains the factory A/C condenser, which is only apparent in the first couple of pics. All that new found space up front is just begging for a turbo. some day...

It's a Griffin 26x16x3 radiator and there's enough room b/t the rails for a 28" wide rad looking at it. Intercooler is a CXRacing 24x12x4. It's definitely doing some favors for the D1sc with a huge 4.75" pulley to make the 8-9# that's being pushed through it w/ an air filter.

BTW, this whole build was just supposed to be a weekend cam swap about 1 year ago until I pulled the stock cam and found the lobes chewed up thanks to some quality ls1 lifter trays I presume:crazy: So I dropped in a forged ls3 and an RPM level 6.5 4l60 along with everything else that goes along with that sort of thing, since that was the only reasonable thing to do. Then I got some AFR 225 heads from a forum member that I couldn't bring myself to mill down a bunch to an N/A compression ratio, so I threw the d1 procharger kit I got from a local forum member on there.

Then the flat bed tow truck who gave me a lift over to JTM for the start up tune managed to hook the factory radiator cradle:crazy:, so the only reasonable thing to do was have them make this custom setup haha.

Here it is as it sits today. I'm trying to get to Atco this weekend to see what it runs. I'm sure I left out a bunch of info since I'm writing this at 2am, so let me know if you have any questions.

That's a nice, clean setup. You could fit an F series blower in there with no problem. What rib pulley is that setup?

That's just a 6 rib set up, with only a 7 or 8# pulley...
a lot more left in the car needs gears for sure...

You can fit an F series blower with the stock radiator setup and a 10 rib. That is T6 turbo real estate.

Nope, but I was there that Friday and again on Monday to get a new PB of 10.64@125.

That's very true, but the more I think about it, I realize I'm not ready to give up my highway cruising RPM. I am thinking about pushing the d1sc a little harder, though. That pulley is big as it gets.

I'm with you, having the taller gears is nice for cruising. Sounds like your a pulley swap away from running low 10s @ 130mph, very impressive, at least to me.
