Default what fuel pump?? 5.3 turbo

iam putting a 5.3 turbo 76mm in my 96 impala ss, with 80 lbs injectors.. can I keep my factory in tank unit and just bump up the pump its self?? and run new lines up front? if I cant is there a way to turn the factory one into just a pick up?

You should be able to modify the factory in tank unit to accecpt dual pumps. i have a 87 rx7 turbo 5.3 and did mine to fit dual 255's. or you can just run big inline pump like a bosch 044 or something.

Dual 255s will keep up with your injectors. A single 340 wont. Walbro has a large 400 LPH pump that can be had for about 130 if you want to stick with a single.

yes dual in tank 255's but as stated above you could just do a single 400 that should be enough fuel.

The 400 will go in place of your stock pump. No sump needed.

google walbro 485. It supports 730whp on a mustang dyno on E85 with 80lbers at 58psi base pressure.

Are you running E85 or 93?

Not to hijack but I was under the impression that
the walbro 400 could not support that much hp on
boosted application. Im looking to make 700rwhp
with 80lbs on a 5.3.

i am putting a 400 single in the tank of the 1500 i am building right now, i think it should be able to flow as much or more than a 044, wich a single 044 has my fairmont in the 135mph zone already

Im running a single 400 intank on my 96 ss. With the stock fuel lines. I was running a tc78, 12psi 12° at 11:1 afr with no problems. I just cut the cut a section out the plastic of the sender and used a hose clamp to hold it in place. Took about 30minutes to do droping and reinstalling the tank. Hope this helps.

What did you do for wiring on that fuel pump? I have a 1997 SS Camaro im going to be throwing a walbro 450lph in for a turbo LM7, so your build interests me. I'm curious what your going to use for the relay and power on the pump? Did you drop the tank or cut an access hole?

Also do you have any more pictures? Thanks!

John
