First turbo build Pt88/4l80e/ac
#106
Well after driving the car a total of 5 miles I was worried leaning on it would hurt the Trans. It shifted great but fluid didn't look promising even before the turbo was installed. I decided to quit while I was ahead and yank it out last minute...
Good thing I scored a fresh gm reman 4l80e for a killer deal I couldn't pass it up. Already ordered most of the swap parts. Plan on using the stock Trans/converter until next year when I get it fully built. Figured a stocker shouldn't blink at 7psi! Just need to figure out what yoke I need still! It will be back together this weekend I hope.
Anyone that has 4l80e swap advice let me know!
Also installed a new blanket. Ebay special but I must say it fits pretty well have to wait and see how well it keeps the heat in! (Ya I know I need to clean up the cut on my core support, I was in a hurry lol)

Thanks. Used the 60 mount just fine.
Seems a little more trimming is in order tho. Not enough room for the plug and no where near enough room for the AN adaptors for the trans lines.
There won't be much of this tunnel brace left when I'm done! Lol. Already had this thing in and out 3 times. Hopfully tomorrow after one last adjustment it will be in to stay.
Comparison pic just because.
(Yes I'm aware the 80e is missing the 12 o'clock mounting hole! That's why I got such a good deal!)

Well after installing/removing trans about 4 times to check all my clearances it's IN!
And runs and drives. I'm using the stock drive shaft for now and a conversion u joint. I'll have new drive shaft made when I swap rears down the road.
Car is done for this year. It's getting tuned in the next day or so and will hopfully be ready to rock by Tuesday evening. All I have to do is some small stuff to make it 100% this go around. I'm very happy with the way everything fit and came together. I'll be posting some cleaned up pics and vids soon! A group of friends and about 40 cars is headed to a show this weekend and I'm glad the car will be there!

Ok so I have some questions on wiring for both battery relocation and fuel pumps. Goal is to run all my wires once so I don't have it rip the interior apart again.
Battery
1/0 from battery to switch
1/0 from other side of switch to starter
4gauge from starter to fuse box
4gauge from alternator to battery
All new grounds from block to frame and battery to frame
For the fuel pump I was thinking a harness like this
http://www.racetronix.biz/itemdesc.a...%2D001&eq=&Tp=
Questions
Since my battery is in the back can I run the power for my pumps to the opposite side of my cut off switch in the rear? (Saves me from running 2 10gauge wires all the way up front) or is that a bad idea?
I plan on using a Hobbs switch to activate the second pump. Plan to mount that up front so what gauge wire should I run from the Hobbs switch back to the relays? (relays will be mounted in the spare tire well).

Im looking at running dual AEM 320s that are E85 friendly, and not sure what else was needed.

I ended up buying ractronix dual 340 fbody pump kit. Came complete with dual harness everything I needed. A little bit of time with an ohm meter figuring out the new bulk head fitting had it working great.

i love your build man!great work so far..justa couple questions..i havva stock ls1 witha single 7575 and been wondering about swapping to a pt88 when i put my forged ls1 in..but my 7575 witha 3400 converter spools up nice and quick on the street and im also auto..how quick does this thing spool up on the stock motor? i just dont want to much lag on the street..i love giving it a lil gas and u can hear the turbo spooling

It's not terribly slow to spool but it's a little lazy. About 3600-3700 it's on 5psi. My problem is I'm using a stock converter. I think with a purpose built stall it would help a TON! Pretty much as soon as I get into boost the gate opens at the same time lol.
With the bumper exit exhaust it isn't that loud at all. Quiet while I'm cruising down the highway. Other local H/C/I cars with long tubes are louder then my car. That being said if it was a daily no way I would do bumper exit down pipe. I like my daily quiet tho.
