440 would be a longer stroke. I agree you can get a great piston on a 4" stroke. That is what I run in my 427.

It could be a 4.185x4 which would be ok but cylinder walls will start getting thin, and no room for a rebore if anything happens. I think within the limits of a std deck LSX block the 4.125x4 is the best combo for bigger power while retaining good cylinder wall thickness and piston support at the bottom of the stroke.

If you can get it to live then yes, go as big as possible. For ~1000-1400hp I just don't see the need for less reliability for a little extra stroke. The LSX block does not have really long liners, at least they are shorter than a ls7 block.

In my book 427 will make the most reliable setup and make 1000 rwhp with ease. I don't see the need for going only 13 inches bigger.

AES makes the 410 cube setup with a standard deck good for 2000 hp. There are few guys with them on here and AES has one of them in a customer's car making over 2000 hp IIRC.

Ray Litz runs mid 7's in the quarter with a 410 setup and he is limited by turbo. If he threw a Promod 94 or something else his car would be an animal.

15 psi with the right heads and cam would make 1000+ hp easy.

I'm curious: does anyone know for sure the liner/ cylinder length between the 6.0l/ls7/standard LSX block? Sorry for the thread jack.
