Default Oil catch can.... Good idea for a turbo setup?

Looks like my engine drank a quart of oil through the throttle body over it's life . I'm thinking of running a catch can. Don't know if I can do it with turbos... Should I even use the PCV system or just install filters on the valve covers??

Thanks

What kind of PCV system do you have now. A catch can is a great idea to keep oil out of the intercooler, piping and intake. I'd go with a catch can of venting to the atmosphere.

I prefer a catch can that maintains a vacuum source. Its better for the engine to help seal the rings if you pull vacuum from the crankcase. Mightymouse makes a really nice can which I use on my car.

Do you install a check valve similar to one installed in-line of a brake booster to keep from pressurizing the catch can?

I think if you want to maintain pcv valve system you are looking to install a air/oil separator inline with the hose from valve cover to intake. Most catch can systems are open filter vented to atmosphere from valve covers straight to can.

I agree on the sealed catch can in the stock pcv system!

Sealed catch cans with vacuum are technically healthier for the engine, but a vented one is going to be better than a stock pcv system since it'll catch all of the blow by. Most race cars use a vented catch can.

I'm just using stock Pcv system but once I add boost I'll have to do something else. Found a $20 catch on eBay with site gauge that looks like it will work. Doesn't seem to vent to atmosphere.

What do you guys think about the oil cap mod. Putting a small filter through the top of the cap

Idk why one would be better than the other?

I have a MM can as well and it has a built in check valve but vents to atmosphere if needed to keep the pressure from going back to the enging

I may just put breathers on each valve cover and call it a day.
