Default How are the FI stock guys doing?

Does the stock Ls1 motor hold up well to a twin turbo, single turbo, Vortech, or ATI with a good tune?

120+ passes at the track, 50 or so dyno pulls, 2000 street miles, one broken TH350 input shaft and mine is still running fine. I also had 270 passes on the car last year + 7000 miles with heads/cam and an M6 leaving at 6200 rpm on ET streets on the same shortblock thats in it now.

Trying a little nitrous on top of the blower next

1 1/2 year running a very conservative home tune while I work through issues with the car at my pace. I'm not seeing primo power out of the setup with the tune I have, but until I'm ready for the dyno this will do and has kept me running well since I put the blower on.

If you put a good tune on the car, it should be ok. I didn't and fried 3 pistons giving out joy rides. More incentive to do a motor build though

How long will the stock 4L60E handle 450rwhp from the blower?

4L60E's suck

I have been through 2 of them before I put my blower on.

Hopefully this built one will last longer.

I put 10k on my stock 40k motor with TT over 530 rwhp as high as 570 rwhp with lots of passes and street driving
i almost wish i kept the stock motor in there!! it was fine when i took it out!

tune and enuff fuel is the key. I cracked ringlands with my turbotech kit with only 475rwhp. I had a terrible tune and not enuff fuel. I imagine the lack of fuel killed the motor much faster than the advanced timing. At the same time, harlan was pushing 600rwhp on a stock motor with a good tune...enuff fuel and a lot of octane.

I was doing fine . . . 2 years on stock motor. Then I got greedy

Took it up to 621/684 on 91 octane and alky injection, and cracked a ringland on #1 and blew driver's side headgasket. I expected it

my motor is also holding up ok thus far. turbo went on last summer and ran the time in my sig. this year with 7.5psi and ls6 intake i hope to see 10's, or very near. good tune and 100octane deserves quite a bit of credit.

my built 4l60e is supposed to handle 700+ ftlbs. I'll let you know.
