advice on turbo build

Default advice on turbo build

i am looking at doing a on3 turbo kit, with a 76mm turbo. my car currently has 130,000 miles on it, is that to many miles to trust doing a turbo build on a stock bottom end? the car is stock besides fast fuel rails, slp lid, and ls7 clutch, what heads, cam, injectors, intake and throttle body should be used on a build like this?

130k miles is still within the range of what most people are using here for boosted setups.

Use stock heads/cam/intake/throttle body. Cam you can change later if you want, but everything else is fine. Get Siemens Deka injectors from ebay. Their 80 lb injectors are cheap and reliable and are more than enough for that turbo.

well i wanted to do a cam since it would be easier with the car apart without the turbo on, ive never built a turbo'd car before i was a diesel mechanic and was huge into diesel sled pulling and drag racing so i want to get a cam that will allow it to have less lag, idk with just putting the turbo on a stock ls1 where the turbo will light at as far as rpm. i will be drag racing it and it is a m6 car so i want to get boost as early in rpms as possible if im making sense

Then get a cam. Stock cam will do just fine, but it won't hurt to upgrade. With that turbo, you don't want a huge cam. You can max that turbo on a stock Z06 cam.

what numbers will u see with that set-up? if i go bigger will the motor need built?

Look into a 475 instead of that China crap inefficient turbo.. i just changed from the 76mm China junk my car came from to a bw475 and i gained i feel like 100hp.. And no oil leeks.

can i use a s475 with a on3 kit? what about an s480 with a race cover thats what we used for diesel and i know they always made more power and spooled faster? if i can use a on3 kit will the bigger turbo fit where the on3 kit places the turbo since a s400 frame turbo is larger then the s376 the kit comes with?

S475 wont work with a ON3 kit. I would get some truck manifolds without the EGR crap on them and have someone weld some v bands on them and build the kit yourself or have someone build one for you.

well before i go spending about twice as much going bigger then the on3 kit, how much hp can you get out of the the on3 76mm kit? i want to get around 600hp and into the 10's

which is a better kit on3 or cxracing? with the on3 kit do you need any other parts to complete the install?

The on3 kit pretty much gives you everything. But you need to choose hie you want to run the oil return. The on3 Kurt is set up to run it back to the pan with a scavenge pump. I ran it back to the oil filler cap with the scavenge pump. Take a look at the build threads here and it will give ya an idea on what u need
