Nobody likes any of the edelbrock ones but the one like you have is still far better than either of the low profile ones designed to clear hoods.

Wilson or Nitrous outlet are popular.

I can voice my opinion that it does not matter.
My setup is the low profile Edelbrock elbow.
I am not a 1000 WHP contender...it is a turbo street car that hauls *** though.

Do you think the blow through carb hats are ideal?
Probably not but guys are making mega power all day with it.
If it fits under the hood, run it!

Its a popularity thing On why so many people have them. The Vic Jr is not a very good intake because as cast no modification its air distribution is pretty back so the center cylinders get more air then the outside 4 and messes with tunning. If you had a fast xfi or holley system you can individually tune cylinders and stuff but all of that matters in people getting every once of power from their setup. I would only run a pro flow or similar style intake. But that's just me.

But like I was saying they work and are fairly cheap so let it eat. But there are better choices down the road if you wanted more power

Anyone have a good comparison between say the ultra low profile and a sheet metal elbow?

Are they worth the money in a boosted application..?

Other than appearance between the two, what is the actual flow difference? I find it hard to believe that the large radius Edelbrock is that much worse than a fabbed one flow wise (CFM) seeing the TB end is the most restricting end (or is it?) The edelbrock also has a divider in it too. Someone blow some smoke or something through them both so we can see the flow pattern difference.

Yeah i also find it hard to believe there is much of flow difference, maybe if theres dividers inside .. im just getting a 1" carb spacer aluminum , and flat piece of aluminum welding it to spacer and the tb .. and putting old carb bowls on it,, make it look like a carb setup .. Or im going to weld a 4" mandrel aluminum 90* to the carb spacer ..

I'd say run it. I run a lightly ported Vic jr w a 6061 elbow. Car makes good power and with not drivability issues.

I had the Aarons elbow on mine and It did ok for my setup. I changed my setup to a Holley manifold. If I were to keep my Vic Jr. I would for sure use this elbow next time.

Although that above needs more hood clearance, and of course the intake is far from a standard Victor anything.

What did you pick up going with the Holley setup?

Don't know yet. I have yet to test it.

stevieturbo- It's not exactly a Vic Jr. but that is just to show an idea of what I would run. I can get that one made to fit whatever with minor modifications. I know BMR and AllPro had some extremely nice CNC elbows but those will never fit under a stock hood. And I don't think BMR makes them anymore

I really cant see any of the regular tall elbows shining one above another.

Obviously compact elbows can be bad, largely because of the mega sharp turn they would force for the closest cylinders.

Obviously modifying the intake to suit a much larger elbow like pictured above is a different story again.

But then I wonder what a carb intake with say a 4 bbl style throttle body and maybe a carb hat style "elbow" might work like ? Would it offer more even flow for a standard carb intake ?

But price just says use the tall one or buy one of the beautifully made pieces from Aaron. If for no other reason than they look great lol.
