Default Header ?

I got a set of turbo headers which are SS 1 3/4" x 3" for my twin 427 build but the merge collector necks down to about 2 1/2" then to 3" is that going to cause any restrictions i should worry about?

Should have used 2.5 vbands on the collector and 2.5 hotside. The turbine is the restriction.

That looks goofy looking. I agree you should cut those transitions off and run 2.5" v bands

I agree they look funny but would running the 3" v-bands that are on there cause any flow issues?

No but 3" is way too big. 2.5" is plenty of flow. I wouldn't run a 3" hot side if it were me

The turbos are going to be very close to the headers so there is not much pipe to talk about before the T4 flange maybe 6" or so.

Hi. , who made those turbo headers. I like them cause it seems shorter @ the collector compared to Stainless Works turbo headers cause I have the 70' Nova.
Thanks Garry

They look like Jardine's to me, but I'm just going off of pics since I'm in the market for some as well.

Correct they are Jardines these are a second set they made for me the first set were decent in quality but not perfect so they made a second set which are nice but have the funny collector the other set had a straight 3" butt type VS the 2.5-3" slip. The other set is still very usable just need cleaned up a little but they do tuck up tighter to the engine that's why i choose them!

3" pipe can be squared out perfectly to fit a t4 flange. Since your doing twins right off the header you'll be fine. Sucks they didn't just do a 3" collector though.

Been talking with Jardine about the collector and he says that they will flow better than a straight 3" kinda have my doubts though.

There was a video on youtube showing a simple test with a tapered merge collector. It basically assists scavenging much better than a straight tube collector. Cant find it though.

But this shows a little of what a good merge collector alone can do

edit... this is it. The fact turbo headers are under pressure doesnt matter, same rules apply.

Was surprised myself when I seen it, a very simple but effective demonstration of why collectors are good, and why a tapered merge is even better.
