Default Id on a garrett turbo

Hey I was wondering if anyone knowsdumhow to id a turbo. I buddy if mine told me a guy had a turbo rebuilt for sale for a good price. I went to look at it and I couldn't find any specs to determine how big was the turbo. The owner isn't into turbo stuff and dont know much about em. All I know its a Garrett with the turbine housing reading a .96 a/r and the exhaust housing reading a 1.32 a/r . Also it had M 1 on it and had the #s 88-11 big on the turbine side. I tried googling it and I found nothing tried to call garrett but couldn't a direct number. They guy wants 900 for it but if anyone knows anything I mean ANYTHING. It will be satisfying to me. Thank you for your advice

Could be quite a few different series. with a .96 and 1.32 it might be a UTV or TV94 or for that price maybe a older T18 of some sort

I would say its an HP8811 but no real way to know without taking the compressor cover off. Get a caliper and measure the wheel. An HP 8811 is a large turbo...

Have him pull the housings and measure. That is the only way you will know what is there

So pull the turbine housing off? I think whoever built it did so because someone engraved the numbers 88-11 on it. It doesn't look professional or like the Garrett themselves done it

Yes measure the actual turbine and compressor

How many blades are visible on the compressor wheel? 6 or 7?

7 on the turbine?

Should be 11 on the turbine of that TV based unit

7 on the compressor means it is still the old TV compressor. 6 means it has been retrofitted to the new GT wheel

I meant compressor housing. If indeed it is a 8811 how these turbos perform on well built small cubic inch motors 404 408 etc. I plan on running it with a 404 stock block in a 3rd gen

That is not an hp8811. With the 7 blade wheel it is the old school 125lb/min compressor

We don't even know what turbine it has.

I will double check again. Like I say it's a large frame turbo and it appears to be that of an 8811. I hate to bother the guy about it he doesn't think I want to buy it lol. He's into BBC n nitrous. So he doesn't know that is what. Thanks for yall advice
