I've been battling this mysterious knock for quite some time and can't seem to figure it out. It's a forged 6L with a TVS2300 running on e85.

How many of you guys have desensitized your KR sensors? I show a small amount of knock and am afraid of adding any more timing and its not allowing me to make as much power as the motor is capable of. The car runs great, idles great, runs like a rapped ape. Can't hear any knock, but the car is LOUD, and it only happens when the motor is at its highest load. Only seeing 161kpa and IATs around 140.

Any ideas, help, and thoughts are appreciated. I'm no tuner but I will do my best to answer any questions.

Pic says it all 8.5* and 155kPa

I'd say just for a test take away 2* of timing to see if it goes away. If not it's false knock.

0.4 retard is hardly anything but I like it nice and flat too.

You should be able to run twice that timing on E85 if not more. Especially at those boost levels.

Exactly. If we add more timing it becomes worse and you can see it stair step down. With 9.5 compression and only 9lbs it's killing me not being able to pull more timing. Still making 600+hp but I should be able to get a lot more out of it.

By pull timing you mean add more advance right? It could just be that your knock sensors are just overly sensitive and something on the motor is making noise around 6500Hz.

Is it only at that point in the rev? Looks pretty close to peak Tq. I used to get the same thing around 4500-4800 but I'm N/A. Was just noisy.

My fault I meant add. It's not always at the same RPM but yes the knock follows the TQ. I'm starting to think its just noisy, it even sets the Radar detector off. Kinda scary when your logging and every WOT the radar detector starts screaming

Your radar detector should not be going off lol. Maybe your ignition has a faulty ground or something. If you add 3* does your KR retard 3.4* or does it stay in the .5* range.
