welding a divided t6 flange
wondering how people are doing this? im wanting to run 2.25 off each manifold, keep them separate, run two gates. does 2.25 fit into the hole on a t6 flange, or is it 2.5 that fits? how are guys welding them? I can mig and tig. some look tig welded on the inside. but on the outside, are you just welding the pipes together? because I see no way to get in between the pipes on the outside. also ive searched, and haven't found any pics of someone actually building this part of the hotside. its always just finished pics. any one have some pics of the welding process? thanks guys.

thadd, those are the exact pics I was looking for, but how did you weld it? mig or tig? is it totally sealed from the inside? I have a waterjet at work, so ill be doing the flange there. do you think I could cut an extra flange, and cut it in half through one of the holes, and use the 2 halves in a vice to crush the pipe to the exact shape I need? just an idea, thanks guys!

If you oval the pipes with your vice, you can get the width correct. Then it's a matter of carefully whammering the top and bottom flat. Caveman engineering.
I left about 1/4" inside the flange for welding with mig. On the outside, I welded what I could get to.
Die grind it smooth on the inside. No leaks!
I fit it all up, then trimmed the ends back for weld space.
Wish I had a TIG.....

2.25" here. Just take a rubber mallet against a wooden bench and lightly beat on it switching sides as you go to square it on the end to match it to the hole in each side of the flange. Some use a press but I find I can get closer just using a rubber mallet. TIG Welded although they aren't the best ive done lol.
Welded the inside between so I didn't have to weld up the pipes on the outside.
