Sure it would. I believe matt (denmah) made 700+whp with a 5.3 using that turbo.

My question would be… is it worth it to spend $525 on a china 88/83 when you can get a S475 for $625. I’d like to know if this turbo could hold its own against the Cast S475. My guess is the S475 would outperform it.

That's a good questions. Is the VS racing 88/83 physically smaller than the S475? I assumed it was, which is why I was interested in it.

How much difference power wise would be between the T4 version thats been posted and the T6 version- for the same price?

The 88mm compressor size looked pretty similar in size to the S475. The hot side is quite a bit smaller. I don't remember which fairmont it was or I'd throw up a link.

Think they are talking about the 88/83 turbo now. The 88/83 isn't available with a t6 housing. The T6 unit posted has a much smaller exh. and compressor wheel as well.

So between the one that tonypaul posted in the ebay link and the 88/83 turbo, which one is capable of making more power? Also, which one would work better for a M6 car? I would assume the bigger exhaust and compressor wheel would mean it is capable of making more power, but it appears the 80mm turbo in the ebay link is ball bearing and I don't think the 88/83 is.

The Ball Bearing option isn't going to make any difference power wise. There is nothing fancy about the 80mm comp wheel so it's safe to say the 88/83 will be capable of quite a bit more power.

Thanks! You've been really helpful. So do you think the 88/83 would be a good choice for my setup? I think my plan is to get this kit off the VS Racing website, but I'll upgrade to the 88/83 turbo. It looks like this kit will have everything I'll need, aside from the fuel components.

I would like to see the t6 80mm bb and t4 88mm tested against each other on the same motor. The 88mm got more wheel but the 80mm might more air. Be a interesting comparision...

The picture in that listing is of a T4 flanged turbo.

I'd bet if you order than thing-it comes with a T4 flange and JimmyWong just had one too many saki bombs when he listed that one.

Has anyone has the "88mm" turbo in their hands yet? As I said almost 2 years ago, I am still yet to see one. And if someone actually had a 88mm turbo, has anyome made close to 1000whp or trapped above 150mph with one?

I believe you can get the 88mm version off the VS Racing website. You can buy the turbo as a standalone, or as an upgrade with the Dehmna kit.
