Wiring up Eboost2 boost controller

Wiring up Eboost2 boost controller i was wiring up my eboost2 boost controller, and was wondering if i needed to wire the yellow (tach signal) wire from the controller to the ground on a ign coil? is it mandatory, or can i run it without the tach signal? or what's the purpose for it anyways?
I have mine hooked up. If I hadn't known where the tach signal wire was under the dash I would have just left it unhooked probably. I look at it every once in a while to remind myself how far off the stock tach is as well as looking at the peak RPM sometimes.

i would need this signal if i wanted it to spool faster in the lower rpms? my manual boost controller would spool slower at a setting of 11 psi, and would spool faster when i set it at 17psi.
