there are probably threads about this already but i figured this is easier...... im looking for a supercharger system ive seen more people use prochagers over other systems on the ls1, are there much performance difference between vortechs, pro/magna chargers?, also does supercharging mean block/piston mods?? all input would be appriciated

This might help u decide
https://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-induction/137685-efficiency-fi-setups-out-there-ii-final-results.html

As u can see... Procharger was the best SC to give power based on a long list of users. 2nd comes Vortech and 3rd comes Magna and last comes powerdyne.

I have a basically brand new ATI procharger tuner kit D-1SC that might be up for sale soon, it has under 1000 miles on it.......

go with a Vortech and never look back, its worth the extra money. you'll probably never find a used kit.

I have both an ATI D-1SC and a Vortech V9G. Don't hate me guys, I'm not rich... I swear.

Anyway, they are both totally driveable and are both are stock internal UNTOUCHED LS1 motors. Keep the boost moderate and you will not have to worry much. I'm running the V9G at 9# and the D-1SC at 8#. They have put down similar power. 463 RWHP on the Vortech car (17" rims though!) and 479 RWHP on the ATI car.

Looks like the ATI makes more power for me? Well... my SS (Vortech) still has stock exhaust manifolds and cats. My '02 (ATI) has a complete FLP long tube set up with off-road pipes. Hmmm....

I really can't, just based on my experience, say the ATI makes much more power. The twin air to air intercooler systems seems like it would be more efficient, and granted I did dyno my SS using the Spectacle air lid but still the results are pretty close.

for curiosity's sake, you should take the headers off the ATI car and put them on the vortech and see if the numbers go up.

I know with my tuner kit for the D-1SC I was pulleyed for 8lbs, 3.6" pulley...

I made 468rwhp through a slipping TH400 through the 12-bolt on slicks.......

That was with the stock 346 motor, FLP LT's, etc.....I was making 6psi and blew a head gasket, compression was around 10.6:1

Then I put new heads on and now the comp was down to under 9.5:1, I was making the same power with only 4psi....

Usually LT's would drop the amount of boost you are seeing, but the power should be there w/less boost...

I more lazy than I am curious.

Been doing a LOT of wrenching on the 1994 lately and kinda tired of being under a car for the time being. I did, however, just buy an SLP Y-pipe to install on the SS. We'll see if it gives me a couple more RWHP.

If you are looking for some serious horsepower, I have a D-1R for sale.It is the head unit only but I have seen everything needed to complete a kit on this and other forums for around $2800.00 total. This bad boy flows 2000 CFM,The unit alone cost around $2500.00.I was asking $1750.00 or a reasonable offer.

You won't go wrong with the Vortech or ATI system. Either one can be bolted onto a stock motor with no other mods required. You can expect gains of 140+ horsepowe with 8-9# of boost.
