Question Iat???????

What is the avrage IAT with mainly the turbo guys after a full pass in 70* weather?
Mine seemed a little high and i think that could have a little to do with my Hourse **** 11.5 @ 127 with bad tune for the first 1/8.
I still have some bugs in the tune i need to iron out, But im getting closer. Just wondering what most peoples IAT are.
thanks

On a TT C5 I'm messing with, starting at 84 degrees IAT it hit 120 degrees at the 1/8 mile mark on a 80 degree day - dont have any 1/4 mile passes logged and the owner bailed on the TT and went ATI so i cant help you past the 1/8

I understand, this car had a large single FMIC also so you arent doing too bad I dont think. I havent messed with that many TT cars to be honest so it may be way off what it should be..

With a Incon kit at 9 psi at 4200 ft elevation I get about 115 deg F at the end of the 1/4 mile starting at 82 deg F. So basically the intercoolers are way to small for the application, but space is tight.

Noyzee, I posted a thread awhile back about IAT's and Adeeo responded saying he hit 150 degrees in the 1/4. I think he has the same turbo system as you. I've hit 170 in the 1/4 in the past but now I always make sure I ice it down good.

i was up around 200, with 14 psi, I guees My IC might need some help or my tuning (which is off) might need some work.
Or i need to put a blowdown on my N2O bottol and fill it. I have a bar across the front of the IC to spray it down. I havent tried it yet. either that i need to grow some ***** and spray a small shot into each side of the IC that would help.

id just spray a 20 right before the intake so the air closest to the engine gets cold

I usually end up being somewhere between 95 and 110 as I go through the traps. My last time out it started at 74 and ended up at 100 when I shut down. I've also seen 90 at the tree and only 105 at shutdown. I run my fans on high speed at the track and it helps pull some good air over my frontmount.

I've only been running about 9psi of boost and this is a ATI procharger with a big front mount.

i was cruising on this weekend when it was 90 outside, the intake temps were 112 with the intercooler off.. when i turned it on the temps went to 94 and after flooring red and 4th were back up to 110, this is half water half coolant.

but anyways over 150 i'd say is pretty bad unless you have some stiff octane in there... i have seen 5.0 cars talk about melting the IAT sensor during a run which peg's at 230 i think?

Well on the Incon TT my IAT went up to 94*-98* but then droped down to 62* when the Nos started spraying! the pipe was even to cold to touch after 3+ pulls. But I would like to know what it would hit without the Spray, I will upgrade to the 40"x14"x4" FMIC. in the winter!

I think i might be spraying with some juice to cool it a little.
we'll see if tuning gets them down a little but anyway, i have to do something

Its not just the intercooler efficiency its also were you are at on the compressor map. The intercooler can only do so much. The turbo tech kits with the base turbo (t-60) have a really tough time. The intercooler is way too small and so is the turbo. The T-76 is a lot more efficient but its still has to flow through the intercooler.

The incon kits have a little more intercooler area (still way too small for anything above 450 hp) but the turbos are way more efficient. I don't remember to many details on the CAS kit just that the turbos were slightly smaller than the incon setup but used the old T series.

my turbos are 44's. the IC is currently supporting well over 600 rwhp on another car with the SAME kit. turbos and IC so im hoping some is in the tune and and im going to try to stand the IC up a little straighter then it is now, and get a bit more air across it.
Im trying like hell.
