Overheating..suggestions?
Went to the mall 15 minutes away, and by the time i got there (had to stop at maybe 5 lights total) the engine temp was getting to be unsafe...same for the return trip...while driving it was fine ~210...but as soon as a light came...up the temps went like crazy.
it was about ~92 degrees out today...
what are my options?
-160 thermostat
-Spal Fan (where can i find them?)
-water wetter
-heavy duty coolant
-somene suggested a product called "Blue Ice" (apparently really helps engine temps)
any ideas? Thanks very much.

Thermostat
Fan
Purple Ice coolant
If anyone knows a sponsor that sells Spal, let me know...thanks!
I assume you have had the fans programmed to come on earlier then stock, stock they come on at like 229 degrees and the second stage kicks on at 237.
Also make sure the fan is turning the right way, its easy to get the wires crossed and have it blow towards the front of the car - seen it happen a few times and on hot days it really shows.
This is even with a 160 and the fans coming on @ 180. Before it would be 180 when I was cruisingIAT's are 100- 125
What I don't understand is when I get on the highway, it takes a long time to cool down. When before the temps would drop almost right away. It is because the ATI shroud blocks half the radiator??

i'll check the fan to make sure its blowing towards the rear of the car.
Thanks for the help.

Here's their (ATIs) answer:
First thing to check is to make sure the fan is spinning the
correct direction. There has been many occurrences of fans that are
wired backwards, and offer a lower percent of cooling ability. The fan
units are a SPAL, and rated at 3000 CFM. That is 400 CFM more then the
stock twin fans. The Spal unit should have no issues cooling your car,
during hot weather. I would check to make sure the thermostat is
functioning correctly, as well as the fan relay. The Spal fan can be
replaced for $150 via our parts department.
I don't belive that my fan is a 3000 CFM unit. What about the rest of you?
The key to the fan working right is their seal to that rad. If the fan can draw air from around the sides of the shroud, it will. Throw some duct tape between the shroud and the rad and that should help a little too.

Seal the fan to the rad with black duct tape. Also 160 stat with programming will help a GREAT deal. Also you can wire the fans (I can't remember exactly how now) to get more voltage to the fan (fan runs faster)
good luck,
Chris
I let my brother wire up the fan, since i figured he could handle it...and apparently i was wrong. The car got hot again, and the fan NEVER came on. I'm guessing it's a loose wire somewhere.
I thought it was kind of odd after the car being fine in traffic, that it should crap out for no reason!
I'll still pick up a tstat asap, and have it tuned for the fans to come on earlier!
i looked under the hood, the fan wires were hitting the belt and got shredded
careless wiring
