But all you guys are making great points and arguments so I'm just going to sit back and keep reading.

Vv And if anyone wants to make an opinion about this down here feel free lol vV

Yeah I wasn't 100% sure on the size, just wanted to point out the difference in how borg measures their turbine wheels vs the other manufactures.

I did find these responses though:

Its like its a mystery as to what turbine size the PT88 is, lol.

Maybe this will help some:

As you can see here this shows the difference between the inducer vs exducer measurement on the compressor and exhaust(turbine) wheel. When selecting a turbo there's a lot of stuff to look at and research before pulling the trigger.

To quickly sum that up, the PT88 is an 88mm compressor wheel and unknown exhaust wheel. As far as the s480 it is a 80mm compressor with a 96mm exh wheel (measured at the inducer, large side of the exhaust wheel) Most other turbo manufactures measure the exh wheel at the exducer (smaller side).

IMO to best match the S480 compressor map to a 408's airflow requirements a billet wheel will be needed.

Jose@Forced Inductions(Dr. Turbo) gets my vote.

If you need a cam to match I would be happy to help.

You run? Last I read you have never even made boost with it, but yet you are recommending one?
I have a few friends that have terrible luck with the newer Precision turbos. Two of them grenaded their turbos on the dyno almost fresh out of the box. Just not a big fan.

How quick is that turbo working for you?
Dont know yet as I havent done more than idle the car. It should lite up pretty quick though

Oh ok, so no actual first hand experience with the supposed failures.

Turbo will lite up quickly? Like 8 sec pass quick?

Billet S480 from Jose with a 96/1.32 turbine. The cast wheel will be at about 90% capacity to make 1k at the tire on a 408 even with the manual trans. This is going to lead to some pretty hot output temps. 1699 on that turbo.

Pt88 will be no good on a 408 cuber. It lasted 1000 kms on my car before i had to pull it off. To much air, and it was pushing the wheels towards the comp cover and scraping the wheel. Youll have to go with a pt8847, its got the bigger wheel on the back. In my 3200 pound , plus me ,another 200 lb, the car went 8.4@164 moh in street trim, on 23 psi through a 2 speed glide. I rekon that was maxed out for that turbo, ecen though its rated at 1470 hp.
Mine made about 950 atw.
