S480 vs PT88 for LQ 408, which to choose

S480 vs PT88 for LQ 408, which to choose
Trying to figure out which is better for a 408. This is my first turbo build so I dont know jack about compressor wheel inducer size, exducer size, A/R ratio. I do understand t4 and t6, and compressor outlet and turbine outlet sizes. But thats about it.
I asked this before but that was when I had a t4 piping kit, some other things have changed, and I've narrowed it down to these two turbos from what people have said. But any other suggestions are fine.
408, Edelbrock pro flo XT, AFR 225 heads, I'll have a new custom grind cam, and most importantly, I'm keeping the T-56. My HP goal is 1000, I'll settle for less for now until I lower the compression, but I'd like to buy one and only one turbo that will get the job done.
So what do you guys think. And if anyone wants to tell me what A/R ratio I need and all that, thank you

Not a big Precision fan. The cubes might be a little steep for a 408 with the S480. I believe Jose now offers an 84mm wheel in the S400 housing that may be the ticket with that combo...

Thanks for the offer Blackpanther but the next thing I have to buy is K member and A arms.
So I'm looking at two different S480 turbos on Summit.
This one cost $1,500, with the race cover
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/bww-177287/overview/
And this one cost $850
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/bw...FUoV7AodlVoABg
From what I can tell the only difference is the cheaper one has a 75mm compressor wheel inducer, and the more expensive one has a 80mm. Also the cheap one has V-band compressor outlet, the expensive one is slip fit.
And on the Huron Speed page the S480 is $850, but with the race cover its $1,240. Seems like a better deal for the race cover one compared to Summit wanting $1500.
So of those two which one should I get? And if someone has a link that would be great so I dont screw something up

Blackpanther it's going to be a t6. I sold my t4 hot side and 3" downpipe and bought what i need to fab my own t6 hot side and 5" down pipe.
So i take it everyone agrees on the s480 so i can eliminate the pt88. But would you guys say get the $850 one with 75mm compressor wheel or the race cover one with 80mm compressor wheel

You should have no problem over 1000 hp with t56. My 408 with stock 317 heads and s480r (standard 480 with race cover) 96mm/80mm put down 902 hp at 15 psi when we locked the converter on my 4l80e

The most expensive S480 from Jose is the S480 ET-R HO, which has the 96mm turbine wheel, billet ET-R wheel upgrade, and race cover on a 1.32 a/r. That is the turbo that I run on my 370. I believe that retails $1600. That is the bad bitch of the S480 series turbos. Lol

Both of those turbos are over priced big time. Go thru forced inductions and support a sponsor.
A 400 is superior over a PT88 and has a larger turbine which will benefit you greatly on a 408. Cast s480 will get you your 1k hp goal for about $850

I do agree with buying from a sponsor. And huron speed has gone above and beyond for me, plus they seem to have the best prices.
So here are the choices and prices
T6 S480 - $850
S480 with billet 80 HO - $1210
S480 with race cover - $1240
S480 with billet wheel and race cover - $1600
Just trying to figure out what exactly I'll need for the 1000hp goal
Edit: just saw where slowlsx said the standard cast $850 one will do the trick. Anyone else agree

I'm not saying one is better than the other or providing any opinion just want to make sure everyone (esp the OP) understands that borg measures the larger side (inducer) of their turbine wheels rather than the smaller (exducer) side that all the other manufactures reference.

How quick is that turbo working for you?

Are you sure on that? I know the PT88 I think has either an 87 or 92mm turbine wheel measured at the exducer (small side) whereas the borg is a 96mm turbine measured at the inducer (big side).

Pt88 is ~83/93
Big 400 turbine is 88/96
