Twin Garrett's suitable for 403 ls2...
Thinking of doing either a pair of t04r's (t67's) journal bearing... or a pair of gt4088's... journal bearing as well. motor is a 403 cube ls2 with just about 9.0 compression ratio. car has an auto so I'm not afraid of spooling. just wondering if anybody could shed some insight as to wether or not one of these combos would make power on this motor. also like the idea that the t04r's are smaller because I'd like to tuck these away. thanks in advance

Curious what you find out. The Garrett should be very durable and probably has a larger turbine wheel. I ran a GT4094R on top of a GTX5533 for a couple of years on my diesel and it was the most trouble free secondary charger I ever had. If it can live being force fed 45psi in a compound setup, it will probably hold up well running 2.0-2.5pr on it's own.

I'm sure either would work fine. A couple of Borg Warners would equally work fine too.
The 4088 and 4094 are big, although big in different ways to the BW's. So yes your TO4R would be a fair bit smaller, at least around the compressor cover area, although this may reduce any abilities slightly over a bigger unit. Not sure how turbine wheel would compare with the T04 ? I think the impeller on the 4088 is very similar in size to the 366.
The 4094 has a fairly bulky compressor cover, I think the 4088 is the same ?
Left to right. 4094R, S364FMW, S366
Left to right, S366, S364FMW, 4094R

If the 4094 is the same outer dimensions as a 4088, which I believe they are ?
Then if a 366 wont fit, neither will a 4088.
It will need to be a smaller framed unit like the T04, Precision, Turbonetics, Compt turbo etc
All of those can be built with a pretty large compressor but in a smaller 3"+2" compressor cover

The turbobygarrett.com site is very nice for comparing the different Garrett chargers. They even have prints showing physical size. I don't see much mention of 40 series Garretts being used on LS motors, so there's probably a good reason for that.

anything garrett should be a good turbo... One ford guy has a 428ci small block with twin 4088's and he made real good power... over 1200rwhp. I was kind of leaning towards the t04r's anyways because of how much easier I'd be able to fit them... but I read that they're old technology. I don't much care so long as they'd meet my goals, or atleast come very close. if they aren't turds I'll likely end up with those

Get Work turbochargers, Forced inductions etc etc to build you a pair of small Garrett's
They'll be able to build you a small frame unit with some modern impellers for quite sensible prices.
Or I think Turbonetics, Comp Turbo, Precision offer them all pretty much off the shelf anyway
Either way, with turbochargers there are no lack of options. There are literally thousands of options

I understand your concerns. But I wouldnt let that force me into using very old "shelf" turbos vs something more modern, which costs the same and offers potentially much improved performance.
Although those same concerns are why i went with the BW unit above. I'd prefer a genuine factory unit over something built elsewhere
I managed to squeeze a pair under my car just beside the bellhousing. Space was ridiculously tight...but I figured I'll go with the larger units, because once they are fitted, I know anything I might ever upsize to will also fit.
If I'd used a small frame unit, I'd always have been limited to that small frame so figured it was worth making the effort from the outset.

I'm sure every company does the same. I've just heard far less complaints about garrett. if precision 6766's weren't pieces of ***** I would have probably had some by now... they look cool and I know they'd fit but I can't have some junk that's going to **** oil

The precisions really do seem hit or miss at times. Their units are very good though when they do work.
It's just whether you want to take that gamble.
IMO find the room for some BW's. They're great value, and have a super reputation. Or speak to AGP Turbo, they offer different covers and turbine housings which makes some of the BW units more compact. Although I think it's mostly the smaller S200 range
