It's too bad that these turbos are so hit and miss. They are compact, light weight and make great power but if you are dealing with luck of the draw to weather it's going to blow up not it might just not be worth the risk. I too have seen several failures from the 62-67 mm cea's. I had a Precision PT88 years ago that served me well for a cpl years until selling it. The BW turbos I run now have been flawless.

Excuse my ignorance, but are these failures only seen with the billet wheel turbos? I was real close to buying a pair of PT6262 turbos....doing a little more research now!

I had my 6766cea break the shaft and exit both wheels last year at about 1000 miles on them. I'll never buy another precision 67 ever again, sadly I knew their was a good chance it could break, but I only went with them as was legal for our local 8.5 class, but then they got outlawed so I stepped up to the tc76's by turbonetics and decided not to run the class.

Seems like they have become problematic over the past couple years. I bought my 7675 used so its actually their old 76GTS which might be why its doing so well. I hear more bad than good on the 6766's though

Just speculating but it could be because of the massive boom in the import world wanting to buy these. I would guestimate that about 70% of the cars at the shop where I had the work done were using 6766. Once the Supra world saw the possibilities of the turbo (800-900 rwhp depending on setup) I think everyone wanted one. It may just be that the demand for these was putting pressure on PT to pump these out as fast as possible. My buddies running the 7175 and larger turbos havent had issues but they arent used as much in the import world. But the 6266, 6466, and 6766 became the hot ticket items for years so it might have just been too much for them to handle.....just guessing though.
