Washer fluid, 50/50 or stright meth for stock bottom end LQ4
Ive been using washer fluid and 92 for the last year and it seems to work fine just curious how much power I would gain from switching to 50/50 or straight meth. Right now I have an AIS kit using two -4 GPH nozzels. Im running a stock bottom end LQ4, twin 6265 turbos, and a mild cam. what kind of power gains should I see from switching to straight meth? What is better for a stock bottom end engine and how do you know if your spraying enough or too much
Thanks
Ray

Monitor your IAT's is a start, depending on that I would slowly add some timing back, not sure what AFR your currently running but more power can be made there too.
Simple rule I learned someone correct me if im wrong, 100% Meth will cool the combustion and increase octane (best for more power) and water absorbs peak heat, from what ive seen if someone is going after power there 100% meth, if there at the power but want added safety there 50/50 mixture.

I always had problems with water. You can't run large enough amounts without ignition issues. No way you can make as much power on water as you can on meth for that reason alone.
Your 8gph worth of nozzles will flow more than 8gph over 100psi. You need to figure in the head pressure to be accurate.
Still, 8gph isn't much. With 50/50 I'd run at least 20gph. I'm sure you could make more power with added timing at your current boost level.
Personally, If you want alot more power, I'd run a progressive kit at 30-40gph and 100% meth. Leave your timing alone and bump boost up. Once you hit your desired boost, bring up timing slowly and watch the plugs.
Should trap 150 easily with that setup IMO.
Any pictures?

On my stock LS3 T-trim combo I couldn't get as much timing into the motor with a mix. It liked 100% meth the best. New combo is a forged 10.2:1 LS3 and I'm still using 100% meth. Dual nozzle now, a 15 and a 10. I'm still tuning it and so far I'm at 18* timing with zero knock at 12psi. My Ti trim is pullied for 60,500rpm impeller speed. Which is 10% overdriven. I expect it will probably take 20*-22* of timing. Not bad for 91 octane **** gas and methanol.

What kind of power do you think I would gain with 50/50? Im trying to decide to just turn up the boost or run straight meth

[QUOTE=Novaray64;18268081] The mix itself doesn't really give you power. Your power comes from running more boost. No way of knowing how much more your setup could run with out getting a clean read on the plugs. You can't just guess it will be different for every setup.

Stock pistons and rods I wouldn't run 100% meth. You need to keep those pistons cool with water to prevent them from cracking. Hyper pistons are notorious for problems handling heat. They will handle tons of power if kept cool and free of detonation.
Stock ring gaps would only make the water that much more necessary. Sure you might be sacrificing a small percentage of power, but more boost will help with that.
