Default Turbo Lag

I'm a newby to the LS world but not to the turbo world.
I'm looking to build a 600 to 700 hp street LS motor. Have not decided on the size yet 5.3 or 6.0l.
My main concern is Turbo Lag. I would like to keep it to a minimum to have lots of fun at lower rpm levels without chocking the motor in the upper rpm.
I have driven some turbo cars older skylines that are so boring to drive until you hit 5000rpm. Thats when it starts to Wake up. I had a DSM that would have full boost at 2800rpm and pushing over 475hp.

Could you guys post how must boost are you getting at what rpm?
Size of turbo and how much HP.

Thanks

Mine is gear dependant but with t6 s480 92mm turbine I start going positive between 2800-3200 rpms and full boost by 4000-4600. The lower numbers being 2nd or 3rd gear.

If you're only looking to make 600-700 I would highly recommend you run a PT7675. I originally had a tc76 on my 6.0 lq4 and it spooled really quick but would choke in the upper rpm's. I then called and talked to Huron Speed and I order a precision 7675 with a billet compressor wheel and this turbo still lights off instantly and pulls hard all the way through the rpm band. My car is a stalled auto though but it does have a tight converter and is still instant for boost, makes for a great street car. My opinion would be if you're just looking for 600-700 and fast spool I'd go with a 5.3 and the 7675 billet or cast.

I'm running precision billet 7675 on a 383 and it spools very fast and pulls hard all the way to redline.

I'm running a T4, cheapie S475 on my stock bottom end 6.0L. With the exhaust uncorked it hits full boost by 3000-3400 depending on gear.

Computer says I'm flowing 65lbs/min which is about 700 crank hp.

This is interesting b/c my s475, t4, 83mm wheel, 2.125 hotside with the dual scroll hooked-up zero's out the boost gauge at about 3400 rpms, and then boost climbs fast. Response on paper seems slow but it drives nice and feels very responsive. I wonder how much the converter plays a part in this.

Sounds like everything is pretty much the same as my setup. Which AR did you go with?

My converter doesn't flash at all really.. Could be allowing me to spool it up a bit quicker. The only other difference I can think of is I am running a tick cam specced for a GT45 turbo. I actually picked up a bit of spool going from the GT45.

Edit: just noticed you have a 5.3 as well. Seems pretty much spot on in that case.

1.10 AR. I did everything to err on the side of response vs top end hero #'s.

Seems like you guys with bigger turbos are in full boost or close to it where mine zero's out.

Overall I cant complain because again it seems to feel good. Maybe the right cam would also have a good impact.
