I'll be starting my 69 chevelle build after I get my Camaro sold. Looking good! I haven't fully decided on going twins or a big single yet

I suppose if I was trying to hang the turbo off the exhaust or it had rubber mounts I would worry about flexing, but the engine is solid mounted and the turbo is solid mounted to the frame so hopefully no flex.

I see a lot of people use flex joints and some do not. If the engine and turbo are both mounted solid, do you see any reason to use a flex joint?
twin 44's is more than enough to keep it under control... I sell JGS products and a pair of their 40's can keep an S400 down to 3-4 psi pretty easy.

This will be a fun street/strip car.

I don't think the dual 340's will allow you to max out the turbo on e85. Maybe a blend of e85/pump fuel. We encountered this with a GTS76 and billet wheel (1200hp rating). Needed a KB Boost-A-Pump to max it out.

Walbro makes an e85 friendly 450lph pump now also....

Thank you John. Could you send me a PM with a price for 2 gates and a blow off valve? Whatever size you think I need.

Hopefully these will work, but if not maybe I can just buy a couple of those 450lph pumps and mount them to my in tank bracket. What do you think for supply and return sizing?

Gotta keep on changing it up or it get boring.

Mine is a constant project at this point but a driving one. I also went LS this time. Nitrous BBC was a CLOSE 2nd though.

Started fabbing the downpipe. Got it half way past the cover and working on the transition under the car tonight. It's a tight fit, but it will work. Going to run a tab off the strut bar to help support it also.

I still love the BBC engines, but you can't beat the strength and technology in these LS engines.

Got the exhaust piping under the car now. Had to make some pie cuts to do it, but it has good clearance. Stared fabbing the 5" to dual 3" merge. Used some pieces of 3" scrap pipe to help form the transition. Ordered up a pair of 45 degree elbows to use for the final product. Thy will angle towards the center of the car and tie into the Pypes Chevelle style exhaust system with a pair of Race Flo mufflers and exit in the stock location. Should be super quiet.

I also ran into an issue with the Flaming River Pinto rack I bought. I assumed they used the stock size .625 thread on their inner tie rods, come to find out they build them with 1/2" 20 threads. The Pinto tie rods were the perfect length too. They don't make a stock tie rod in the dimensions that I need now, so I had to buy the Flaming River ones and hope they are short enough. As soon as I get them and get the rack hanging is place I will see where it needs to go for good bumpsteer angles and fab the mounts, then get the pieces I need to re-connect the steering shaft!

Twins look good and are easier to get the smaller downpipes out, but I prefer a big single. I found out the Chevelles seem to have quite a bit more room under the hood compared to a first or second gen Camaro or 68-74 Nova.

People talk about flex joints and cracking pipes.... Truth is you're probably not going to put 100k mi on the setup and a lot of guys run no crossover and never have cracking issues. I have a flex bellow on my bank that's furthest from the turbo, too many bends to put one close to the turbo, in the end after changing heads, trans and trans cross member... It moved my placement around a little bit and that flex bellow makes it a lot easier to get the v-band lined up (like a ratchet strap between the two headers and a crow bar between the A-arm and header last time). If you do go with flex bellows get them for a turbo application, reguale flex sections will come apart.

Interesting setup, most mount the turbo on the right side for an easier exhaust route

I was a little worried about the V-band alignment also since everything was such a precise fit with solid mounts and solid turbo mount. I could easily put one in the passenger side pipe, but the drivers side will need some slight modifications since I put the v-band where the flex would go. Do you happen to have a company name that sells turbo specific flex joints? It's still not too late.

Both of my friends mounted theirs on the passenger side facing front to back. One with an LS 71 Camaro and the other with late model hemi in a 71 Dart. My car already had the front bars welded in for the big block I was planning to run, so it was in the way, plus I am keeping my battery in the stock location. I also liked the long routing for easy filter fitment and a long gradual transition for the 5" exhaust. I figured the longer I can keep the exhaust 5", the less back pressure I will have when it transitions to the dual 3".
