Default First outing with the L33 S480 Mustang Notch

Some of you have followed the progress of the build and it is pretty much coming to a conclusion and I had the first outing to the track. So I figured I would throw up some pics and the track results here. It was not a terrible first time to the track considering it was just on Nitto 555r tires. The basic specs are:

5.3 bottom end from a L33
Mild cam
317 heads
4L80E that is build
Circle D 3800 rpm single disc billet converter
Forced Inductions S480 with 92mm turbine 1.10 T6 housing
Built 8.8 rear end

Needs more boost. Nice to see you got it out. Im guessing 10lbs as well for boost on that pass.

No they have to run 20+ psi to do what I did

Boost controller was was not even turned on and it had about 12 lb springs in it. But I do believe in higher gears it was creeping up a little bit into the 15 psi range. I need to get the hptuners set to be able to log without the laptop. I just have not messed with it yet. All of this was leaving off the foot brake with no 2 step or launch control or anything at this point.

My main issue was traction. With the Nitto 555 drag radials it just would come out from under me if I tried to go full throttle any where before about 300-500 feet out. So I had to roll into it and pedal it a little bit until it was fast enough to really put the pedal down.

But this was my first outing with this car. I really feel that the more it gets dialed in the faster it will get. This was also in 95* weather with about 90% humidity on a notoriously slow track. Due to test and tune and all the cars kept putting on their AC, even the big tire cars were having a hard time hooking last night. Quite a few of them were spinning like crazy.

Great to see you made some passes Sarg! In abysmal conditions I might add. The Nittos didn't have a chance did they! Ha!
My car blows em off like with real slicks.

W/O touching that, cooler day with slicks your mph will go up.

I log with the laptop in the car. I Velcro it to the pass side floor. But I too need to learn how to set it up stand alone.

Good job!

Ron

Thanks Ron and sleeperls. The last pass was cooler. I think it was between 79-77* maybe? Probably why it reacted so well up top. It was also the only pass that we pushed it up to the line too rather than letting it heat soak back there. All in all I am not unhappy. The feeling on the back half was crazy. Definitely sucked me into the seat!

Good to hear, haha. I have waited for 5 year for a build of this caliber to be complete. Another couple weeks is no big deal.

I ran 10.2@135 off the foot brake no boost, spinning my DR's and pedaling through 1st gear. My 1/8 was like 116mph so your picking up more on the back half than me, some slicks and I bet your an easy 9 on the same tuneup.

I watched your passes Friday night, car looked and sounded good once it got into boost down track. Should fly leaving once your leaving on some boost!

Just like mrstepheneades said earlier, some seat time + moar boost + sticky tires = your in low low 9 second territory with this setup easily, in my opinion.

Bad *** build.

Are those 555r tires your running pretty old?
