Default Fans in boosted application(Huron style setup)

I'm planning to boost my car and one thing i know i don't have the welding skills to do my own kit(welding and whatnot). So i'm looking to do a complete kit such as a Huron kit. That type of kit requires me to remove my stock fans and i'm assuming i'd have to put fans on the other side of my radiator as pushers. I also assume the best would be 2 high pushing fans. I already have a huge trans cooler in that area with a fan and will just downsize the cooler for my trans and move it down and put a smaller fan on that. I have the condenser removed already as i pulled the A/C last winter so space isn't much of an issue. I'm looking for guidance on the fan's and other tips/tricks with that type of setup. Also over the winter when i do the turbo i'll be replacing the steering rack , power steering heater with a nice cooler setup and a new radiator hose with that heater gone.

I want to say the new v2 truck manifold kit from Huron allows you to keep the stock fans in the stock location but please don't quote me on that.

As for aftermarket fans, most on here run 16925 Derale fans in front of the radiator and they all say they work great. My car isn't running with them yet so I don't have any real experience. Some have moved their trans cooler down under the car and mounted it parallel with the ground and say it cools as well, if not better than up front did. So a few things to look into.

Yup, those are exactly what you would need if the stockers don't fit.

i run 2 derale fans and they do work. my car never sees 190 ever... i just used the stock wires for triggers and ran my own relays with fuses. pretty simple and they fit the stock radiator great.

Those are the fans i use, they have worked great over the past 3 years. One thing, do not use their supplied fuses/relays. The fuse holders on mine literally melted, im surprised there wasnt a fire. Get quality 40amp relays and better fuse holders from the electrical depot or something.

There is also a HUGE amperage draw from these fans, ~24amps each so it might be worthwhile to step up your alternator too. I know when they are both on because my voltage gauge drops a lot.

I can get all that stuff through my work. We do electrical on transit buses and trains. Usually we have extra heavy duty fuse holders and relays

Thats weird. I am running the same set up and my temps will hover around 180 or so but when its hot outside it will creep up to 200-210. It never goes above 210 but on really hot days it will creep up there.

yea that is wierd... guess it all depends if you have a/c or have all the air out of your system. used the signal from my pcm to trigger them. my temp never goes past 185 even sitting in traffic with 95 hot humid weather. lucky me i guess lol

Very lucky you I guess. I don't have a/c and I'm still working on making sure all the air is out of my system but it sends to be OK it just creeps up when it's 90+.

i also have a turbo blanket and wrapped all my hotside piping so maybe that is the difference?? what stat do you have? what temp do you have your fans coming on? is your belt tight so that your water pump is working right? did your car get that hot before the turbo kit was installed?

My hot side is completely wrapped and I am running a blanket also. I think the stat is a 180* one and the fans kick on at 180. I guess it's just the nature of the car. I bought it turboed. I also did have an issue where it was slinging belts but that was taken care of, it feels tight enough.

hmm... that is odd then. my fans are staggered so the passenger one is higher than the driver side one.... maybe you dont actually have a 180 stat unless you installed it. i also cleaned the radiator fins very well when i had the radiator out during the install. when my fans come on i can feel the air moving from under my car lol. def make sure all the air is out of there though that will cause issues forsure.

Yeah I'm working on it checking it everyday. I am running a Griffin radiator and it alot thicker than a stock one. When my fans do come on high it sounds like a tornado under the car. Lol.
