Default Slapping a turbo on a 404 w/ 11.5 CR?

I had a post a little while back about adding a turbo to my engine. I want to revisit this a bit as I have been toying with the idea in my head a bit and want to expand on it's practicality on a street car.

I have a 404 ls2 fully forged w/ good parts, fast 102/102, ported l92s, and a 240/250ish cam 114+3, it supposedly has 11.5 CR. Also, t-56, textralia clutch stock rear, nice suspension, and 275 nittos.

What if I went ahead and slapped a decent sized turbo on it without changing anything, how much power could I reliably make and what will it drive like on the street.

I realize that I can drop the CR with different heads and this obviously isnt an optimal cam for boost. What is the upper limit I can make (btw, pistons are -2cc)?

Is this even worth doing? right now I estimate 550 rwhp give or take and it seems like its the perfect amount for the street and any more might be useless (no traction, etc).

kaboom! jk it might live for a little while but I wouldn't. to be safe you would need to pull a lot of timing and run e85. I mean gtos do it with blowers at 10.8 or so but changing the heads and cam to optimize the turbo seems like a much better idea. then you can add head studs

Honestly I'd you want a little more power right now I'd just hit it with some nitrous until you can change that HCI a bit for the turbo. That's just my opinion.

How thick are the current head gaskets? Maybe you could put some thicker ones and drop the c/r. Also cam selection could help and bleed off some of the compression (not optimal but maybe an option). With the added compression though you wouldn't have to run much boost. My 6.2 l92 has 10.8:1 or so and on 13.5#'s I trapped 148 mph @ 3100 lbs on straight pump 93. Add some meth and it would make it safer or e-85. Gl

Slap a Gt55 on that heifer and rock it the hell out... Id like to see the exact cam specs so I could run the valve events.... but I'm not scared of 11:1 static on pump gas.... Had a 383 with a 24X/24X 117+4 cam ( had to kill the overlap because of the turbo being used) make 4 digits to the tire on pump gas with high teens boost...

Intercooling and tuneup will be critical... I wouldn't throw a treadstone air to air on this thing or something like that.... E85 would widen your tuneup window for sure...

its an easy 1k plus on 16-17 psi combination. Your rear end will hate you... and that aluminum block is gonna be begging for its life.
