I agree LS1nova, the unlimited cars are very impressive but I like to see cars featured that are more obtainable. Congrats stock48!

Thanks guys! Yes the engine combo is as budget as it gets but the car is another story. Lol
Just restoration alone on this car is 20K+ then add up the suspention, wheels, fuel system, saftey equipment, and my 100's of hrs in time and it gets expensive. I honestly had no other option than to go budget on the engine combo after all of that. However a guy could throw this combo into a fox body or mid 80's car around mid 3k lbs and have really cheap deadly combo. I think a 78-82 malibu would be my choice if I had it to do again.

I thought your name was Jason? Ha!
I watched a bunch of day 6 last night and found your 8.22 run. Your car really does look good.
And of course runs even better.

Hot Rod should come to you and do a feature.

How was the availability of E85? And how was the driving part?

congrats! Time to change your signature!

What RPM do you shift at? And then tun it out to in high gear?

Is the truck intake and TB 100% stock or are they ported/port matched?

It took me awhile to figure out why everyone was calling me jason after that lol. The E85 was a problem. Brought 5 jugs of fuel with us that hogged up the trailer and after going thru 4 of them right away and no E85 around I switched over to gas for the driving rest of the week. Just sucked it out at hotel and put the E85 back it drove to track on E raced and sucked it back out. Wasn't all that much trouble.

I normally shift at 6500 rpm but when I need a little
Extra I take it to 6800 and it picks up a little. Car was actually on the 7k rev limiter thru traps on the 8.22 run. I have it set for 7k but it comes in around 6850. I never mentioned it earlier but on the drive the bumpy roads with trailer etc settled my springs and caltracs were out of adjustment. On the 8.22 pass car pulled to the right and I had to peddle it back to about 2/3 throttle and steer it back strait. Think car had a high 0 to low teen on it if I had got a chance to fix that and bump limiter up. They just fked us around too long in staging lanes and ran out of time. The tb and intake are stock from a 2002 4.8L truck.

What gear/tire again? I think I might have a problem with either converter or trans. I was hitting the limiter right after the traps at around 150mph 6800 limiter 28"/3.27.

I am really hoping to get into the 8s myself this week so any tips/advice would really help! So far 9.4@149 but I haven't had a strong launch yet. 1.6 of of 5psi. What are you seeing off the footbrake. I am afraid to go too high if it just turns into a brakestand haha.

I only leave on 5-6 psi but it comes in fast after that and combo makes a ton of tq. I have 3.23 gears, and 28" tall tire. 164 mph is ~6900 rpm.

I was wondering what your trans problem was and where you swapped or repaired the issue?

They certainly didnt have anything to say when you won!!!!!!

Well now that it has a grand total of about 10 passes on the setup LOL, Maybe I can start to do some dialing in. Should be able to get it into the 9.5x range I hope.

Thanks guys! Yes the band in the transmission broke first run in Topeka. It was a major setback but we got it fixed. Luckly I was able to make the pass in hi gear as well as drive the 320 mile leg back to Ok with just hi gear. Was sketchy pulling trailer thru all the towns and up the hills with just hi gear but somehow we made it!
