I am running an Earl's 8AN inline fuel filter. I checked it when I did my recent build after quite a few miles and passes on N/A e85 setup. It was spotless. So I reused it for now.

Bringing this back form the dead.

There's a new 2 micron glass element available at your local tractor supply.

Microglass. Isn't that the same thing Fuelab is charging $120 bucks for?

Of note, my stock fuel filters have not had any problem with E85 nor have any of my other stock fuel components, for over 3 years now.

Those are only good for up to 50psi. I just looked them up.

Thats suggested peak pressure. Same with the 595 golden rod filters ive run for years at 75+psi. I even tested the filter with 120psi of shop air to try and blow it up.

I havent tested the new filter, but im sure its fine.

I’ve ran the factory paper filters on mild builds for years. I’d imagine the stock filters becomes a pretty big restriction once you get into “big” power. I’d want something that can flow a lot of volume without any pressure drop across it. Once you start making over 500+hp or so on E85 I’d guess you’re needlessly stressing the fuel pump otherwise.

In my old Buick turbo days I'd run 2 OEM filters in parallel. Some would run 3 or more.

I run a low base fuel pressure and haven't experienced a drop yet. I'm also running dual 340 pumps and fic2000 injectors which everyone seems to think is bad on e85 but have been doing it for 2 years now. Come to think of it I do a lot of things that people wouldn't do but for some odd reason it works. I plan on pushing this setup into the 8's so we shall see if it becomes a restriction. I am logging fuel pressure so I'll be able to tell when I head back and crank the boost up.

Nothing wrong with big inj and lower base IMO. Its just more expensive than high pressure and small inj.

You would have to monitor pre and post filter pressure to see the drop across the filter. While your main pressure may not be dropping off, you could still have a big pressure differential across the factory filter.

assuming more room to mount it under a Nova?

Being that big I didnt see a spot to mount it right side up, could maybe do it horizontally along the floor somewhere.

Yeah, plenty of space in the old cars. Well, sort of.
Horizontal is fine.
Mine is 10 micron, but flows huge volume. I think 10 micron is fine. Smaller may restrict flow. So watch that.

just don't get the moisture absorbing filters by mistake
Is a water separating filter bad? I got this mostly for the housing and ease of mounting it.

I mounted mine horizontally near the factory fuel filter, like all my pics they are on photobucket though.

Do you run this filter? How does this filter make you feel inside?

FYI 25 micron is pretty crappy filtration. Suggested minimum for FI is 10 micron nominal.
