Default Drivetrain loss

I've always been curious. What is the percentage difference in HP loss for the T56 vs. 4l80e I know a few of you have switched over and I'm curious how much of difference there is.

That's not that bad. The way people talk about the two you'd think it was 10-15% difference.

Drive train loss is most often seen at the dyno and not at the track, especially in the case of auto transmissions.

Really just depends on the build. A 4L80E we build will have less parasitic power loss vs a stock 80E because we rollerize them. Some of the bigger power guys who have an aluminum have a much lighter drum shedding a few pounds from the internal rotating weight, decreasing loss further. There is even more you can do beyond that for even less power loss when all said and done. Converter selection, stall and setup all have an effect on power output as well

I know this much.....a th400 only showed a little over 600 at the wheels but goes 10.35 at 135 with a 1.70 60ft in a 3700# car lol. Seems like a auto unlocked will dampen the dyno numbers a bit but not the e/t

actually had a LS2 on a engine dyno, it did 440 average and then put down 365 wheel with a 65e to the tire, so i was actually surprised with the 23% loss!

I think he said engine dyno so no trans. Then a 23% loss with a 4l60e

Anyone running a multiclutch lockup cconverter? I know with my Circle D locked up I saw a 70 ft lb gain vs my old Yank.

23% trans, rear end, and tires. Just saying trans is not the only thing eating HP.

unlocked stock ls2 gto setup

on a engine dyno, flywheel bolted directly to dyno hub, with longtubes on the motor as it sits in the car. but 440ish average wheel hp

then on a dynojet 224x (my dyno) 350~ average on many pulls,
but unlocked stock converter, 60e, to the tire.

23%

i would love to take one of my turbo cars that makes 850whp thru a th400 and see actually what an engine dyno puts down with one of these things haha
