Default ATI or Vortech?

Well, I think it's time to join the supercharged club. I don't know much about these kits, and need some info. 1st, which is easier to install? I have read good things about both, but not sure how the Ati even works with twin coolers? Also, is water or air cooling better, and do I need it if I have the slp cold air? My car is a daily driver, and an A4, which kit would be better for reliability in the long run? You guys make it hard to choose, since everyone likes their charger. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

You will get more info if you try a search.
This question gets asked at least once every couple of weeks.
But yeah, Vortech guys will say Vortech, ATI dudes will say ProCharger.

I `ve been trying to decide for sometime myself. It seems that the Vortechs are more well engineered as a system, but the actual blowers themselves from ATI seem to be better. Also I have talked with many racers and mechanics locally and the popular consensus is the ATIs have continuous small problems like tensioner bearings, blower seals, belt slippage + brakeage, and overheating in heavy traffic. The Vortechs do not seem to have as many probs( except SQ trim blowers going bad). But the ATI is more capable of big power if everything is setup just right.

I think the Vortech head units are better.

Well, from what I've been reading, it looks like everyone is happy with what they have purchased. How about the ease of installation?, which kit is easier to install?

I don't have either kit, but if it were me I would go with the Vortech T-trim.

You'll figure out real qiuck that it is worth a few HP, not to have a bunch of nagging problems that make you start to hate your car!!!

Later,
Dave

My thoughts:

Vortech:
+ high quality dampner
+ excellent brackets
+ consistent power levels
+ 600rwhp possible with base head unit
+ can upgrade and install a T Trim with custom brackets
- need to cut SS hood in two places
- hard to access plugs on driver's side
- some early head units needed warranty work
- need to tap oil pan

ATI
+ don't need to tap oil pan
+ P1's seem to make good power at lower rpms
+ takes less time to install
+ esthetically more appealing
- base 6 rib setup slips above 8 psi for most people
- does not come with a nice dampner
- have to remove the head unit to change belts

ATI is probably the easiest to install. No tapping of oil lines with their self contained setup. The Vortech comes with a better tensioner system and the ATI comes with a better head unit. IMHO So neither is perfect, but most are happy with what they buy so I don't think you'll go wrong in either direction. That being said, the D1 rocks!

check the Mustang forums too since there are more blown Mustangs than LS1s (if you just want to search for the company's track record). when i was researching for an s/c for my 5.0, it seems that Vortec is more reliable while ATI made more power (with similar ranged blowers).

do a search and see how many guys are complaining about their ATI's versus Vortech owners. That should be your answer right there.

You get what you pay for.

Your slow car tied my race car from 70 and my car is setup for the dragstrip. But you jumped twice( what is that like a red light start) so I guess you consider that winning. Dont worry soon the race car will beat you by train lengths like Willie`s Mustang did. Hey jackass I tried to call you earlier answer your phone.
