Default Cam and Torque Converter for Procharger Setup

Hello,

I would like to get some feedback on my cam and torque converter. Last summer, I had a cam and torque converter installed on my WS6. This was before I planned on getting a D1 Procharger. I will be adding a Procharger application next summer, and would like to know if my current cam specs, and torque converter are suited for a Procharger setup. If not, I will be replacing them. Here's what I currently have......

-Cam 228/228 .588/.588 113+2
-Yank Super Stock 3200 Stall

Will my current cam and stall be ok? Or do I have to get something more practical for a Forced Induction setup?

Thanks

It'll work. Really depends on what your trying to do with it. Prochargers love loose converters and cams that work good in the upper rpms.

It will be a street car, not a track car. So the "occasional" gun it and stuff like that. Most of the threads on here recommend a 3600 stall for superchargers. And I know Yank makes a stall specifically for boosted vehicles. Also, I've read that getting a "supercharger cam" is a good idea. Whatever that means?

I'll never forget, when I did the first build on my truck (iron 5.7/d1sc/4l80) I had a vigilante converter that would only flash to about 2400 rpm. I put another vigilante in it that flashed to 3600 rpm and it picked up from running 12.70 @ 116 to 11.45 @ 121 the very next outing. No other changes, not even the tune. Zero tire spin on either pass.

What kind of tires would make a big difference in stall speed to me. Street tires with a procharger Id go with no more than a 3200 stall.

The cam will be just fine.

Depending on how well the car hooks up, you can get into where the added torque from the blower causes the car to drive through the converter. A triple disc converter is usually recommended for forced induction. If you're going to be using regular street tires, you should be okay. Bob
