Default FI or nitrous

What's going on fellas I have a chance to get a supercharger kit at a pretty decent price the think is I'm set up for nitrous I never sprayed don't have the kit installed or anything.

I have a 383 stroker forged with flat top pistons and milled heads. I was thinking changing heads to 317 and run a thick head gasket to lower compression . And changing my cam to a FI cam. It's a twin intercooler kit minus injectors fuel pump and head unit .

I could sell my nitrous stuff to replace the stuff I would need for this what do you guys think I should do?

I'm going to tag along in this thread….

I also want to add a nitrous kit to my car, since I've already done it once. But now I'm leaning towards jumping into the FI world. It would be turbo though, not a supercharger.

OP, I say go forced induction and let us know how you like the change lol.

I sprayed nitrous 2010-2012 really enjoyed it but honestly i was spending 120 a week on nitrous for most of the year. I hated my car na. made 424 na and 590hp on the bottle. I said screw it and bought d1 procharger ran that 2012-2014 now I sold that and am going big single turbo. lol I would for sure say forced induction is the way to go if you can afford it.

Exactly, I wouldn't want to keep spending money on bottle refills.

Going FI is more costly, but the power is there when you want it, and all the time.

only thing is once you go boost....you can never get enough, you get used to the power your at, and then want more..FI is definately better imo, but get ready to always want more haha

Do both lol. Run a D1SC with an Aster and FMIC, and then a 100 shot on top of it!

Right now with milled 243 heads I'm at 11.1 with the 317 and a thicker gasket should get me back down to around 10.3 right? ..the kit includes everything minus the blower injectors and blow off valve for $850 twin intercooler setup. Is it worth it?

So you do get a J bracket and the plumbing kit procharger fan shroud ?
What size intercoolers ? 3.5" or 4.5"
Are your pistons completely flat of do they have some valve relief in them? I get 10.5:1 compression with flat tops, 317's and LS9 gaskets.

With -3cc reliefs, 72cc 317 heads and ls9 head gaskets I got 10.2:1 compression. Right where you want to be foe a street driven car. My last motor was low compression and it was a dog out of boost. My new 383 is a 10:1 compression, it is soooo much better to drive in all part throttle conditions again. Heads and gasket would be the only thing I would change. Everything else being forged your bottom end should be plenty good to the 700+ hp range.

Back to the used kit. Is the J bracket in this used kit just stock or does it have the ASTER or SDCE spring tensioner on it ? What head unit are you thinking about D1 of F series ? Power goal in mind ?

Reason for all of my Q's is because the 3.5" coolers are the smallest of them all and they loose their efficiency once you start to turn up the boost. I also wasn't a fan of all the plumbing that goes in to the twin cooler kit, it was a very cluttered mess. That was one of my reasons for selling my twin plumbing kit and going to the front mount cooler.

It's the stock j bracket . No problem all the input is wanted. Really thanks for the info. I plan on using the d1sc. And it's actually $850 for everything he going to meet me intown. . So is this a good deal?
