made the swap to a glide.
well after much thought and the fact that I found a good deal on it . I pulled my 350 th out and went with a stock case glide with a manual valve body a 1.76 gear and a pro brake. now I need to relearn my launch but im sure it will like it. with the 350 th it was hard to get spooled and once the boost came it had a short 1st gear. this is my first glide now to see if I can run faster than my old trans with the same tune .
old trans ran
1.65 60'
6.84@103 1/8
and 10.54 @130 @10# boost.
I hope leaving with boost and a 1.76 gear it will run faster in the 1/8th and get me down to 10.20s or 30s at 10# boost. we will see.

You'll like it. Might take a little bit to get the gearing or converter figured out (if it even needs to be changed) but I'd say it'll be faster than the 3 speed. A glide has a lot less rotating mass than a th350. Easier to hook up a smaller tire as well. Good luck. Keep us posted.

I haven't driven it yet but I think the converter and gear will be good. my converter was a little tight down low so im sure the 1.76 will help with foot breaking but if not the trans brake will. lol. if the weather holds up I should get some street time by the weekend.

For me it is great. My car is a 99.98% street car. My Glide works great on the street. I have the 1.76 first gear, 4300 stall, 3.42's in the rear with a 28 inch tall tire. It is pretty easy to hook up with 600 hp, and the car is so much fun to drive. One click and hang on.

The nice thing is it's practically a bolt in for the th350. Stronger too.
I'll bet it drives fine. My th400 stays in low on the street for such s short time, it's like driving a 1.48 geared Powerglide anyway.
Curious how it performs at the strip. Next year? Or you still have a track open this late?

yes it was a bolt in but I had to do a little work to make trans shield clear the floor. I had to lower the rear about 1/2 inch and get the cable adjusted up but it is ready to give a try.
the tracks are still open but traction is an issue with cold track temps and the sun doesn't shine to much in November in Michigan.

drove the car around today and to work and back about 20 miles . trans works great the 1.76 gear street drives good . I am going to make u bolts to hold up my traction bars so they don't slap when it shifts. car feels fast. it might just be the 45 degree air but it feels faster.

Consistency will be huge, which will allow you to make changes and see what the car likes. My buddy had a '67 Camaro on spray that was super violent, very inconsistent and ran 8.30s-8.40s. He switched over to a glide, same converter, same tune up and the first pass, off the trailer, it went 8.10 and 8.07 on the second pass. The glide allowed him to bring in the power sooner and everything fell into place. This was on a 10.5W tire also, so the hit was a little softer on the smaller tire. Another friend of mine had a ton of power in a '68 Nova with a regular 10.5 tire and that car went consistent 9.30s on horsepower. We tried a th400, couldn't barely drive the car. Very violent. Small tires and heavy cars can be tricky to hook up once you get into a "bunch" of power. Good luck, I think you're gonna love it. I have a th400 in my Nova right now. We're gonna see how it is next spring, but I'm not opposed to a glide one bit.

with the 350th there was to much gear to hold it back and I could only get 2100 rpm without pushing. then once I launched it whould go to 10# about a car or two out and I needed to shift right away . if my idea works I should be able to dial in how much power to leave on and have a set rpm for the t-brake and 2 step to get the best 60' and duplicate it to be consistant. I want to leave my 10# tune for now and work on the short times then see what it runs that way I think I can run 10.20s on 10# with a good 60' and I don't see any reason to turn it up until I get that working then a couple more #s will get me high nines im sure.
